I know what the author is talking about, im in the same position right know, Ive gone to just using solo sessions for a while on the lineup to get my positional play in line and work on leaving myself closer to the object ball, set myself a target to reach before I play social snooker again, Im working on my weakness as I know what lets me down in my break building and Im gonna master it dammit, once I do I will get back on the table and shock a few people

in my experience the most common problem is that people concentrate more on making sure of the pot than on making sure of the position, for a quick test try and play so that if you are going to miss a shot you miss it but still get the white where you want. there is no value in potting a ball if you can't manipulate the white.

It's already been mentioned but the best advice I can give you is to practice the line up as often as you can. This will teach you most aspects of positional play and groove your cue action. When I started playing I had a 30 break within the first 2 weeks but didn't better it for a year. Then I started doing the line up regularily and my play improved dramatically.

yes going into the reds is also needed too be practised beacuse like statman said you will begin too run out of reds (unless your opponent it wreckless) . its no good practising breakbuilding by placing 4 or 5 reds around the pink and black because where is the pack

what i would do is set up the pink and black and put the reds in the triangle like normal (but no other colours) and then take 4 or 5 reds out of the pack and place them randomly....then when u do run out and yout on about 30 or 40 the vital into the pack shot comes into play and if it goes too plan you will open up another 4 or 5 therefore if u keep ur cool and dont get over exited the 80s and 90s will come...with the extra little push and a few desperation pots you will have your first century

once you have your first you will make LOADS of centurys and then when u get too about 80 u wont go for desperation pots, instead you will play safe and basicly you have won the frame and remember......a high break only wins you one frame...not the match, take 1 frame at a time and treat every frame like a match frame
