yip me to..i used to play to a decent standard without glasses or lenses then i went for lenses and i could no beleive what i had been missing ! not on the table lol the lenses just sharpened everything up. i have been using lenses for the last 5 years. Mines are also the daily disposable at a cost of £8 per month.
Not played for 3 years and itching for a game....11-3-2017.
Mine are monthly disposables at eleven pounds a month from Specsavers, but the prescription is one for snooker only and not general daily wear. I asked for sharper vision within a three to twenty feet spectrum and my optician gave me what I wanted.
I normally recommend the gas permeable semi-rigid lenses for my students who wear glasses or need their vision sharpened up. I've been wearing them for around 20yrs now and they give the same visual acuity as glasses but without the distortion. When I first got them it took me around 4hrs to get used to them and now I can't feel them at all.
Here in Canada I pay $48 apiece or around 30GBP and they last me two years or more. I tried the softs but found they rely on the moisture content of the eye and under stress in matches they were getting a little foggy on my and I had to use drops. I don't have that problem with the gas permeables at all
Had my vision checked 2 year back and was told I have 20 20 by my doctor. However, I do not buy it, so another check up for me soon.
Down on a shot and once the OB went blurry, still took the shot because I trusted my set up and potted it. Just thought I would ask the question so I know my options.
You guys are so darned lucky trust me. I suffer from stigmatism. My eye sight got bad when i was hardly 13 or 14. Now i have to wear my glasses all the time without exception (while sleeping too hahaha so I dont miss out on a dream LOL) and I have made one for snooker; my dearest possession.
I checked for the laser or lasic surgery for my eyes but my vision is so bad that they would not do laser and say it wont by 6/6 even after the process... The lenses similarly are out of my league due to my vision. it isnt that bad left eye 4.25 and right eye 3.75 farsightedness... but they say its something called cylindrical with an axis of 180 degrees and 95 degrees (dont know what that means) but this is particularly why i cant have laser or lenses
But well never mind I have trained myself well with me glasses so....

I've worn contacts since I started playing. Day to day I use glasses but they're no use on the table as I look straight over the top of them. Which means I'm completely blind. Current prescriptions are -3.75 (L) & -4.00 (R) quite shortsighted!
The only time I have had any problems with them is when you have to bridge over a ball with distance between the object ball, which slightly distorts the vision as your looking through the top of the lens. One thing I would say is to get your eyes checked regularly (6 months) as I find a small change in prescription is noticeable as they are so close to your eyes.
i wear glasses and was thinking of trying contacts out, i have enquired about them before at specsavers but couldnt get the bloody things in my eye no matter how hard i tried!
i wear quite thick rimmed glasses and the rim can get in the way quite alot, and the constant sliding them up my nose with my finger is starting to get very annoying.
I wear gas permiable lenses. Leave them in 24/7 for a month then change for a new pair. They are brilliant.
I buy a years supply from visiondirect.co.uk, exact same product as specsavers told me to use. Bausch and Lomb Purevision. £130 is for 12 pairs. My right eye has asigmatism so that lense is twice the price of the left eye!

i think i will give contacts one last try........
It's very easy to put contact lenses in. Simply put a drop of saline solution on the tip of your middle finger and put the lens on it and then just pull and hold your eyelids apart with the thumb and forefinger of your other hand, look at the contact lens on your finger as you place it closer and closer until you feel contact with the eye, and its in.
Im i right in thinking that you can sleep in them too then, if you wear them 24/7 ? how comfy are they and is there anything you can't do in them ? One last question, is the prescription for them the same as it would be for soft lenses ?
Sorry for all the questions ! They sound great, especially for snooker !
