  • Concentration help needed.

New to the forum so a quick hello to everybody. :cheerful:

Been playing a lot of years with a highest break of 100 exactly.
I have been struggling with concentration lately and was wondering if anybody has any tips to help. I can be on a decent break and then all of a sudden when I am down on a shot my mind will wander and I will think of something completely random like who's round is it next at the bar and subsequently miss the shot.
It doesn't happen all the time as I had a 51 break yesterday so can still do it.
Does anybody have any routines for building and maintaining concentration on the shot ?

Make sure you get a goodnights sleep before you play. Tiredness and snooker are not compatible.

Thats the best I can manage, buddy. Its an answer that cannot be answered in a way, imo.

Do you concentrate on what your opponent is doing while you're sitting in the chair?
      If so: Stop it! ยจ

You know that you simply can't concentrate for long periods. So if you're concentrating on watching your opponent, let's say for five minutes, your concentration at the table will let you down five minutes earlier when it's your turn.

I've trained myself to not say a single word until the handshake at the end of the match we're you say "good game, thanks" I focus purely on the game and not bother with what's going on around me. Take every game like your in the final of a competition. These are a few things I do, It's helped because I never used to be focused and always on my phone or watching whats on the other table etc, it really doesn't help your game at all.

          Thanks for the replies.

It is an informal Saturday afternoon session with myself and two mates so not talking to them might not go down too well.
