  • Arm Out Straight

Has anyone noticed that when there arm is fully straight and stretched out they pot better, i have noticed this but when my arm is fully stretched out for some reason i get a pain in my arm, has this happened to anyone else, normally i play with a bit of a bend in my elbow, i have also noticed though that playing this way with my arm out straight it automatically brings the shoulder into the cheek which i think is the correct way to play as well, thoughts welcome on this.

Your right about the shoulder tucking better to the cheek with the arm out straight...

Regarding the pain in your arm.... When your arm is pushed out straight and the elbow tucks up to your cheek you can sometimes be 'tensing' unintentionally and be more rigid/tense in your arm than before, especially at first after using a bent arm prior... this can sometimes cause you too slightly raise and therefore tense the forearm more and the arm won't be as relaxed as it should be, and thus cause your arm to raise from the bed of the table more than you were with your arm slightly bent. hence the tense...

You might be tensing your forearm on the shot since pushing the arm out straighter and this can cause you not to be relaxed whilst down on the shot and cause you discomfort... Try and be aware of yourself when your down on the shot and if you find your arm is tense try and relax your forearm onto the table a litte more. This should fix the discomfort in the arm. (maybe)
