  • Triangle Chalk

Was having a game of 8 ball pool tonight and found myself having lots of miscues, so my mate asked me to try this other triangle stuff he was using, the stuff i was using was the light green stuff but he had a very dark blue triangle one, i found it to cover and stick to the tip much better but it was very messy, got over your hands easily and got on the cue ball lots too, for some reason though i found my potting wasn't as good using this chalk and found it better with the other stuff, didn't think this could be the chalk but read somewhere on the internet that the blue triangle stuff sticks to the cue ball throwing it off line which might of been my problem, anyone else used this stuff, how did you get on with it, this is the stuff i was trying out.

If you have a search on TSF for Spruce Triangle chalk, there have been several threads commenting on the fact that this one is between the light green and the dark blue chalk you discuss. In between colour-wise but better across the board for everything else in my opinion.
I have been using Spruce from some months now and highly recommend it, for both snooker and UK pool. It goes on easily, covers quickly and stays on the tip better and not on your hands/clohtes; I must admit I have not noticed any better or detrimental affect to throw but then I never did with the green chalk in the past.
There does not seem to be a supplier of spruce in the UK but the one on ebay (jack something I think) was a good price (for 12) and arrived in days.
Maybe that is what you are looking for?
Or maybe you are just trying too much side all the time?

I have rececntly changed from the Triangle Green stuff to playing with the Triangle Blue as i use a Kamui Black tip for snooker but as wee know these tips were made for 9 ball pool and everyone that plays 9 ball all use blue chalk ! The blue chalk goes on very well to my Kamui tip with no miss cues or any other issues. Hope this helps.
Not played for 3 years and itching for a game....11-3-2017.

I thought dark blue was for 9 ball forms of the game.

In my experience english 8 ball players use the same as snooker players ( green triangle ) , although

not sure about light green and spruce ? green.

The exception is one guy in our club, who uses black chalk, and leaves the tables a right mess !!

I think the "light green" is the same as the "green" chalk
The Spruce is a darker-shade of green but is noticeable different from the "blue" chalk wich is a deep royal blue.
An ex-team mate tried out black chalk for a while, and yes it really does mark the tables obviously, also he said it does not cover the tip very well, hence the over-chalking
Years ago, another team mate used to swear by red chalk.
Personally I think all the "unusual" coloured chalks (black, red, purple, etc) are all the same poor quality (very granular and soft) with different dyes, so whichever colour you go for makes not difference.
But the Triangle three definately have different textures, hardness, and use-characteristics.
Obviously there are other makes, Master(?) which others have recommended in the past.

I only like this chalk, the rest are rubbish which I have to make do when this is not available... not sure if it's the often mentioned spruce coloured Triangle chalk...

This turning into a spruce love in, but i concur the spruce for snooker wins' hands down, lasts far longer as well, works extremely well with Mike Wooldridge Supertips(pressed) as they're made with spruce i believe...

Would have thought Mike would have created his own chalk by now... If you're reading this, is it something in the pipeline lol :snooker:

I use spruce too. Binds to the tip better, yes, but, binds to the cue ball too. If your a serious player then make sure you have a wet cloth and a dry one for cleaning that cue ball..
