I played a few frames this week with the bloke I coached who had trouble playing screw shots due him tensing up and staring at the cue ball. Session wasn't going well for him and I must admit I was a little annoyed that he hadn't grasped and still had trouble with something as simple as pulling the cue back and playing through the cue ball to get the desired spin and had to be talked through it nearly all the time.
I said to him, "for crying out loud man, you know what to do so just do it," and he got annoyed bent down and whacked in the pink, got so much screw that he arced the cue ball into baulk and back again.
I asked what he was thinking when he played that pink and he replied, "nothing at all, I just looked at it and did it."
