I discovered another thing which may not be anything new to you guys but since I personally found that out I wanted to share it with you all as it might help someone.
I discovered that I am an OCPD, courtesy of VmaxforSteve, and got convinced after studying the disorder completely. I wasn't playing good but then i got to know that my OCPD condition is not enabling me to improve my game given that I was always in search of control. Anyway, having known this i got a little upset and kept studying and getting myself aware on my condition. I kept playing snooker as well. I played in this state for four days and during that timeframe my game was a record bad trust me. Playing a medium power stroke on a medium length pot and missing by more than 12 inches or sometimes even missing by more than 12 inches on the other side of the pocket i.e. have to play half ball towards right side of OB and after strike OB would react as if it was a fine cut This made me think of something. its not about am I that bad or am i that good in snooker. I know that I did my drill sighting aiming everything pretty well including backswing feathers follow through the usual stuff but when i ended up playing like that throughout all the frames and for three nights I was amazed personally. I had no idea what was going wrong and kept trying and trying but no results whatsoever. Sometimes I would stare at my brand new but properly shaped tip as to what i have put on; a Spring ?
yesterday morning I took an online OCPD test and my score was 57 and the score sheet said 70 and aobve is the danger zone whereas 55-58 means Usefully OCD hhahahaaaa so i thought to myself I am usefully OCPD so nothing to worry about and just realise to let things go at times; rest is fine. This was a relief for me. I got happy and relax and easy and had smile on my face after almost a week. then I went to play last night and well a break of 37 and another of 31 and won most of the frames and the match as well obviously. Got amazed again as to how i played last three nights and suddenly a shift of 180 degrees... how is that possible... no technique thinking involved.. no solo involved...!!!
Hence i concluded that snooker happens in the brain 85% of the game is mental and not physical. I was happy to know i was usefully OCPD so that relaxed my mind and i played like the usual me... Now i understand why I played that bad was cuz i was mentally shattered and it was showing through my game as well... I suddenly feel confident now.
Therefore, guys, focus on technique, develop a sound and solid technique, make it a habit and then..... FORGET ABOUT IT !!! unless in solo... The next step is to play with a mind which is clean happy and above all RELAX .. away from fears, wants, problems etc... This will not happen always, we are humans not robots, but when this does happen you will find it easy to be in the zone and even if not in the zone at least you will play properly and enjoy.
I also understood another thing; how can people play well without coaching, without knowing literally anything about technique I know many such players in my club... well it is cuz they do not know of these things and hence do not have them in their minds while playing and are therefore focused on seeing the ball go to the pocket and hence their potting improves with practice...!!! but you need coaching and technique for better play so you can get that and once it becomes a habit, you know it has gone to the subconsci then FORGET abouT IT !!!
Hope this makes any sense.... Even if it doesnt an OCPD has discovered how an OCPD should take on snooker
CHEERS!
