Say I've got a angled blue ball pot into the middle pocket.

If the white doesn't hit the cushion after the pot. Does side affect the angle that the white travels after hitting the blue?

I don't think it does but there are some guys on Youtube who insists that it does.

Yes it can ..really depends on how much side and how much pace.

There have been many questions and answers as to what happens when side is applied to the cue ball. Type ' playing with side' into the advanced search box top right of the page.

Thanks. I've read quite a lot now.

As suspected, it's a really hard shot to master and really relies in 'feel' to a great extent.

It might but then it will be just a small small fraction of deviation from original path... Why to put yourself in trouble and make the pot hard by applying side when you are not hitting a cushion... doesnt make any sense and makes the shot deliberately hard... !!!

Yes I can just add that if there isnt a cushion but a red you intend to cannon particularly a cluster then the side would take effect on the cannon as if it has hit the cushion and give you a better cue ball after cannoning the cluster... the pros use this... but for that standard you must already be making regular 80 breaks... if not ... achieve that standard first and then experiment with side where cushion isnt involved or else you need a good CB after cannoning

          Cheers!!!

As mentioned this is generally not a good idea, but examined from a pure physics standpoint the side should prevent the cueball from picking up as much topspin as if there was no side. Meaning that the ball would stun more than if played at the same height on the cueball with no side. This is because of the angular momentum that the cueball has, kind of like a gyroscope.

When the cue ball has left hand side applied to it it spins as it goes forward in the direction of the arrows on the attachment. Right hand side it spins in the opposite direction. It's this spin that makes it arc across the cloth in the direction of the spin after the initial deflection from the contact with the tip of the cue has pushed it the other way.
On soft shots the initial delfection and arcing are very slight and happen over a much shorter distance than one would realise and on harder shots the deflection and arcing are more pronounced so therefore all shots must be played to allow for this deflection and arcing.
