Hi all.
So after getting hold of my 'hold' on the butt proper, consistent and nice (all thanks to the great Terry); I am enjoying the game again and playing with better consistency. This makes me not to think about the grip or anything else in terms of technique during the game and hence I can concentrate more on the shot in hand and try to keep my eyes locked on the contact point on OB and hence play with better results.
This is a small update inviting interesting comments from everyone concerning what they call the GROOVE or the ZONE. Well to begin with, I have been there on some occasions including two nights ago. How do i define that moment hmmm well its pretty hard but well its a state of mind where you are no longer thinking about literally anything at all and just imagining the result of a shot and getting it practically without any bit of effort. Its all automatic as if implanted in the brain. After playing like that if I try to recall what was I doing while being there hmmm well nothing literally nothing comes to mind and thats the beauty of it really... Once in the groove or the zone you play like a pro then afterwards you try to think on what was it that made you do so hmmm nothing comes to mind you cant remember the grip or backswing or follow through or anything that helped you while being there...
Last time i was there well its amazing to even write about it so last time when I was there I was playing my ninth and last frame (decider in a care to 5 being 4-4 equal) I was a few points ahead and there were only 4 reds available... he went in-off and I took it from the baulk. When I played the red and the brown I only felt one thing and I can tell you with all my faith that it is really what I had never felt before: I felt that I was getting more contact with the tip against the white like the tip contacted the white for a fraction longer as in slow motion (just felt like that) I was surprised but I carried on and on every shot I had the same feeling (the awareness about grip cue tip sound of contact the contact itself- everything sort of subsided and all i could feel was the greater longer contact on the white with the tip) I went on and cleared the table hahaha with a break of 45. Trust me the reds were not set up it was a difficult chance but something happened and i cleared them off. Cant be much happier ever i guess. Even the yellow was on spot brown off spot and the green hmmm green was tight against the black and available in only one corner pocket. I took the yellow with deep screw wanted to spin the white back on its path in to the side cushion then top cushion behind black and then higher than black for the green in that particular corner pocket... i calculated this went of rthe shot and guess what inch-perfect position as imagined (this is crazy) then took the green with screw and check side to take the bottom cushion and on the way back come off the bottom cushion and be in the centre area for that hard brown... the rest were on spots.
i think they call it timing the ball sweetly or timing. Once in the zone you time well or in other words you go in the zone becasue you are timing well. But how to achieve that well beyond my imagination.... I went to play the other night and yesterday as well and tried to manipulate that longer contact with white feeling but it wasnt there I tried throughout the time on every shot but it wasnt there. Guess it cant be done on purpose right?
Last but not the least; I cleared that table in not more than 5 minutes trust me guys .... I am not like THE ROCKET but maybe i was a small calibre bullet at that time for sure I have noted that while playing at the top of my form I play fast and quick really quick. I sometimes try to think on slowing down so I dont make an error but its beyond my control at that point in time.
Your comments on the zone - the groove- that groovy lil zone anticipated...!!!
