if youre using a hard layered tip you may find that the light green triangle chalk doesnt stay on the tip very well, and so may prefer using a chalk with "more grain"

On the cue again I would still say for £65 look at something like a machine spliced Master Cue or Peradon over a cheap chinese cue!
Second hand cues can be really good buys too!
On chalk I was using gold master chalk for a while it's really good, doesn't stick to the or the cue or show under your finger nails the same. I got sick of people seeing it and going on about it too me though so I'm back to the light green triangle!
It is said that chalk from one manufacurer is all the same and it's only the dye thats different!
From experiance blue triangle is not like light green and I've had a load of different colours from Master and Silver Cup (even black) and different colours and they seem to all have different qualities!
Basiclly light green (not dark) triangle seems to be good for not showing on the cue ball or a green table and is quite good at sticking to the tip!
I wished I'd seen this earlier Semih I've been using a layered tip for a bit and just thought the tips were bad for holding chalk!
I'm back to an elk now though on my new Trevor White cue!
Only played with it once going to use it in the match tonight though!
Sorry this is an essay!

You can get a Victor cue and mini butt for £55 with delivery about £9 I think so that's within your budget. You can also specify your joint type (1pc, 2pc or 3/4), tip size, weight and length and they say they'll match as close as possible. They're very friendly if you want to call them and ask them anything (I just have).
I know they have just made a batch of these cues so now might be the time to get an order in.
Personally, I like the "Victor Burr" for an extra £10. I'll probably go for one of those, but my non-standard size requirements will mean I'll have to wait for it to be made specially.

Yeah craftsman are probably the best value around!
Dave and Simon are both good blokes, I've been accross there a few times and bought a few things from them online!
They usually have a good range of new and used cues so I would say it's good to try before you buy!
But still great value for cutom made cues!
I bought a cue for my friend from there!

I will probably try the 3/4 Peradon Edwardian cue from Green Baize and I can try before I buy as its only 10mins away from me. I will buy some green triangle chalk aswell as a case. I was wondering if anything else is needed.

I think from the Peradon range the Royal is the best buy! It's the cheapest handspliced cue they do!

They have a selection of one, two piece and 3/4 jointed Peradon cues with around 40% off. Tempting...

I've had a look at the tutorials on www.maximumbreak.com which I would reccommend to everyone interested in snooker and wanting to improve their games. But i was wondering if anyone knows any practices that I can do to improve parts of my game as I am not particularly strong in any areas.

I do know Frank Callen..and my first impressions of him were he is bitter and twisted because he did not get the credit he feels he deserves for initially coaching Steve Davis,John Parrott & Stephen Hendry all he did was call them greedy and tight. He was supposed to be giving me 2 hrs coaching but I got the impression he was just living in the past and did not obtain any real benifit.Saying that, he is around 70 yrs old now.

Hi Marron,
Believe it or not despite not being impressed with Frank Callen in person the website which uses his name has a good, detailed tutorial.
http://www.fcsnooker.co.uk/practice/...ro_pratice.htm
Every serious player has their own personal routine which they feel they benefit most from but the secret is generally to keep your practice varied (as it is easy for routines to become monotonous) and note weak areas as your game develops and work on those with alittle more attention.
Hope this helps.
