  • Table sizes...

    Hey there,

i am thinking about buying a snooker table. As the room i want to put it in is not that big i am thinking about getting a 10-9ft snooker table.

My question is, does it make sense to use this table for personal training? I know the ways the cueball needs to go are different but what about the angles and the ability to pot?
Doesn't help when i can pot everything on a smaller table but nothing on a 12ft table.

Does someone have experience with this?

    Thanks and cheers

I have an 8ft table and although it has it's limitations you can still practice most shots. I also play with full size balls which makes the pockets a little tighter. Its certainly improved my short game!

a main requirement is to still use a full size cue on a smaller table so you need 5ft around the table at least to give a nice amount of cueing space, so for a 10'x5' table you need a room 20'x15' minimum.
I think anything smaller that 9' table you may start finding differences that could affect your 12' game.
But I also feel that any table of your own gives you 24x7 access to get your technique, aiming, cueing, sighting, etc, etc better
      practice, practice and more practice

Well yes, the room is about 26.5'x20' which normally would be enough for a full size table. But there are some shelf in the room too so i think if a 10ft table does the job and does not effect my 12ft aiming, cueing etc. i would rather buy a 10ft table.

        Thanks for your replies!

I remembered this site that gives sizing :
          http://www.snookerbilliardspool.co.uk/roomsize.asp

ps, also 10' tables tend to be more expensive than 12'
