This explains why you got all this free time Ask HQ, they should put a full size in the office, push the useless computers aside, then you could get down to some proper work!
The sad thing is that we do actually have the space .. there is just no way to justify it to management, believe me I've thought about it

I see and the didn't tell you in the first lesson how you sight?
Not really - most of them just had me potting balls and then repeating ones i missed - only one ever picked me up technically on some things to change. No one ever really spoke about how i line shots up, or how i get down on them etc - they all said i had reasonable good technique, so i was always under the assumption is i was cueing straight most of the time, the majority of my misses most come from lack of getting on the right line

Its quite a basic thing to grasp and vital to know so, I'm surprised that a World Snooker Coach never went through that with you.
To be honest i was probably at the age as well where i never realised how important it was - but one thing i always requested was to be taken back to basics and re built with good tecnique - but this never happened and nearly all sessions turned into positional play. This is why im so fustarted in technical problems were never picked up if they were there
I would recommend you go to a coach who can do video analysis of your technique. I trained with Terry & Wayne Griffiths myself but at the time I was already certified as a Master Coach through the IBSF system with Nic Barrow.
One thing Nic emphasized during our training was the use and analysis using video recording. It's very tough for a coach to see what's wrong using the naked eye, especially during a power shot but the camera will capture everything at 1/30th of a second. I have even invested in a sports camera which has a recording speed of 120 frames per second and I'm anxious to give that a try with a very good player as I haven't yet had the chance to try it out. I think it will really show some horrible stuff if I use it with myself.
The other thing I can offer you if you can't find a coach who uses video is to rent or borrow a camera and a tripod and I'll give you a series of set shots to try and where to place the camera and make a DVD and mail it to me. I will take the DVD and analyse it using either Kinovea or Dartfish and send the modified DVD back to you. This process takes about 2hrs to analyse correctly and I charge 30GBP per hour so your total cost would be somewhere around 70GBP including me posting it back to you.
I see, well, terry has interjected here with some interesting solutions. This could be worth while and something to consider.
Equally you could send me a video of your approach to the game and I'll offer you solutions, but with no charge and with the naked eye

ou sound like me, I was up to see Terry last Friday and yes I had a few minor problems but nothing major. I have been working hard and spending endless hours since last October and I get so frustrated. Most nights I can run 10/10 up and down onto cue tip then I pot long blues with an average of 7/10, then I run Blacks off the spot with a high of 8 and most nights 3.......? Then I run a line up drill which I just started on Sunday and my high is 52. Then I play a match last night and again this morning loosing every game because I cannot run anymore then two balls. Very frustrated to the point is it really worth it. Nic Barrow's emailed me this morning to see how I was making out because I am also going through the Snooker Gym. I got to the Brown chapter and it says to run a break of 40 so I am stuck. Terry explained area positional play but I find with a 5x10 table and only playing with 10 reds there is never much to shoot at so I find myself going after everything and leaving my opponents with a good shot. Trying to get to 40 is tough you figure after 5 reds are gone your chance of 40 is real slim

When I started out as a junior most of my 50+ breaks were clearances, like 5 reds and blacks and all the colors. Iv played on 5 by 10 tables and I found them a little claustrophobic, but after 4 or 5 reds are gone the white was easier to move around. So you might wanna look into practicing clearing the colors. When you can do that comfortably add a few reds to the mix and there's your 40-50 break. enjoy

This game is addicting..........I cannot walkway from this game. I worked on my game for a couple hours last night after thinking about it all day and I think I found my problem. Around here it is very hard to find a game so I play against my 26 year old son which plays like most people one shot at a time so he gets up set when i snooker him so in order to get him to play I have to play a very open game meaning I tend to try and make pots I would not normally try so when I make one I normally do not have shape and when I miss I leave him with a shot. I spot him 25 and with only 10 reds it is tough to catch him if he makes a couple high colours. I went 10/10 running cue ball up & down, 7/10 long blues & 47 in line up drill so I really don't think my game is that bad I just need to find more guys to play with.
