Yeah I got you on that one, could be a crucial shot at so point, saying that, I can't remember the last time I played that one I'm a plane ball stun man, looking to get high or low on the black every time. But I have done my homework in months of practice on the black routine.

I favour the plain ball, too... Bit of top or screw-back, but always on the vertical plane. I'm struggling with all the other variables, having had 20 odd years away from the game

Like what your saying here. Do love a top game, always moving forwards to the next ball. I like to help players with that one buy asking them to play a 15 red line-up, no colors, between black and blue. Then clearing all 15 by simply rolling all the balls in with top, just dropping them in, look for the angle and watch your game develop

Exactly what I was doing today, as it happens... 15 reds in a centre line. If a break was broken, i'd re-spot all the reds and start over. Only managed 13 on the trot a couple of times, but a fair few 11s and 12s... Once i'm confident with the reds, I'll try 10 reds and colours in a line.

Yeah you know what your doing, you know, if you can clock that three times potting 45 balls straight you can move on comfortably to the line-up. While your at it you could throw-in the black routine.

lol just though of another need for side, low on the blue and need to come down the same side of the table that your shooting from.

i can understand its defo easier plain ball, i think the two hardests shots are reverse screw and stun run

You can get away with that shot plane-ball but I know what you mean. If you do find yourself in that position a lot, I would practice getting the right side of the blue.

I'd have to definitely agree with you bud.....

You'd be a lot better spending your time practicing getting the correct angle on your next ball rather than learning to play with side.

arnold palmer used to say (hit it as hard as you can,go and find it then hit it hard again)meaning try and see then throttle back till you can use it.play about with side as much as you can that way you will understand the amount of throw on your cue and the results that follow

I think get your plain-ball game first. Sticking with going up for the blue (because its so important) practice reds around the pink and black and halfway to the cushion going up for the blue. then you'll recognize where you need to hit the white in relation to the part of the cush you want. You should be able to see-it as a semi-screw shot.
I like this shot without-side because even if you get a little to close to the middle you know it should square-off and not run away towards baulk.

coomsey, better to hit it harder because you should have a baulk colour to go for if your too heavy. Position that damn white where you have the most to go at.

Yeah maybe depending how the balls are but, the last thing you wanna do if your playing (one visit snooker), is to try and win frames with yellow, brown and green.. can't wait!
No over time a player (just knows how to hit that shot) side or no side.

I agree, I was having much joy yesterday getting the right side of the blue. Just found now and again I was bloody straight on it which is cool if there still a shot on..I think the pink is a big ball when your on the path to improving your heavy scoring, not just for potting but for picking it at the correct point of a break..

pinks the best scoring ball so as soon as you've cleared the paths, it should be game over
