  • Practice routine

    Hi,

Just recently started playing again and as such have been practicing once a week by just playing a frame against myself. Can anyone recommend some practice routines I can try ?

At the moment im concentrating on my sighting, stance and grip.

Get stuck into the line-up. Colours on their spots, two reds below the blue, seven reds between blue and pink, five reds between pink and black, and one red above the black. Record your scores over 20 attempts. Then try to beat it.

        Thanks for those links!

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
        I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

To start of my practice I place the balls all over the table then pot as many as I can without missing, then do a line up variation, if your only starting the line up I'd recommend placing 4 balls between pink and black only, having too many reds is not wise until your comfortable making big breaks imo...

when I started playing again I use to put 15 reds between black and blue, roll in all 15 then leave the white and re-line the reds. Once I could do that x3 potting 45 consecutive balls then, moved on to the line up with colors.

Thanks peeps for the information. Will definitely try the line up. As im only just getting back into the game I think I'll try like Southpaw said and have four reds in between pink and black.

OK so I tried the lineup but found it a bit daunting to start with. After a bit of searching I found the below video and thought Id post it as I think its a good practice idea for new starters\someone returning after a long period (like myself):

Basically you just use four reds in the lineup to begin with.

Today in practice I made my highest break of 24.
