  • Dave there has been loads and loads of advice on how to cue through the white smoothly,I just can't remember what threads they are on, but the main gist of it all is to cue as if the whites not there, so it's as if you are cueing at the object ball, try playing shots from baulk line with ob down near pink area, and playing it with a bit of follow through this encourages the cue to come right through and finish at the chest, but you must stay relaxed ,still, and stay down until balls stop, do you have four contact points, grip hand, chest, chin and bridge hand? As these can help a lot in keeping the cue coming through straight. I am just regurgitating things better players have told or shown me.
Terry Davidson has written some very good stuff about this ,you could ask him, he might remember where it was posted.

    • The past few times in I have had the pleasure of playing a lad that has won our club championship three times, so he can play a bit, today we were playing and it eventually happened for me I got a break of 54 , I feel like it's breakthrough for me as I have been knocking on the door for ages but it just wouldn't happen. It doesn't half help to have a good sparring partner, just watching him play has changed my game(not technique but shot selection and how to use the cue ball) and picking the balls out all the time doesn't half concentrate the mind when it's your turn lol.

      • Nice one mate
I think that's how i managed my 1st 50+ too, by watching closely the better players, seeing how they held for black when i thought no way lol

Yep i was stressed for months, had lots of 48's and 49's just couldn't crack the 50, then one night bamm....a 64 and it was against the best player i play, so felt even sweeter, then pressure is off and had 2 further 50+ breaks in next couple of weeks !!

Fantastic mate. Keep the half centuries coming. And I know what you mean about playing someone who's a lot better then you. I get to play a few folks like that from time to time and it's their shot selection that I find amazing. When I play, I'm just trying to knock in balls but when they play, they are trying to develop the reds so they can eventually clear up. It's amazing to watch.

              • Hi itsnoteasy

I did reply to your private message but it would not let me send it as it said that you have too many pms stored and you need to delete some.

                Cheers Chris

                    • Emptied some out Chris, looking forward to reading Facebook thing, will I have to join to read it?
JRC even if it's a one off(I hope not) it can't be taken away from me lol, next target a 75 break so I have scored enough to win in one visit, now that may take some doing I know it's only twenty points more but it's a huge leap.

Hi Chris, I had a look on your Facebook page but I can't see it to download.
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
                          I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

                              Hi Chris,

I think the confusion is because it's on your coaching page, I was (and I'm guessing others as well) were looking at your personal page.

                              Here is the link...

I still can't find any link on your page. Maybe we have to be Facebook friends first to see it.
