  • Balance of a cue - Just out of curosity

    Hi,

I was reading up about the balance of a snooker cue and frankly speaking, its all very confusing as different people have different opinions. Some say billiards players prefer a forward balanced cue while snooker players use rear balanced ones (supposed to help with screw-backs apparently!)
Today I tried playing a few shots by holding the cue at its balance point (quite uncomfortable as the balance point is about 17 inches in front of the butt) but the cue felt marvelous. It felt very light and well balanced! I wonder if cues were meant to be held at the balance point (I could be wrong!).
This brings me to a question. What would happen if somehow the balance point of a cue is shifted to just about an inch from the butt (obviously by making the cue very butt heavy). How would this affect the gameplay and will it feel very balanced in the hand?

    Thanks.
Working...
