  • Stance - What do you think of mine?

I've been trying to stand correctly recently, as it's not something I've worried about before.

I've found recently that my game has become a lot more consistent, so I thought I would try and stand correctly from now on, as this will just remove another variable from my game.

I've attached two images for you to look at. I would be grateful if people could take a look, and tell me if they think it looks correct or if I need to change anything.

I tried it playing my brother and had a 70 first frame, so I'm hoping it's OK.

    Thanks people!

      DandyA:

It's hurting my right leg at the moment, because I never used to have it straight. I'm hoping after 3 or 4 sessions I'll get used to it though.

The stance generally feels a little odd. Because it's just different to how my brain is used to.

with respect tedisbill ... you look hardly over 30 and in good condition so I wouldn't worry about it ... I am sadly 56 (not my fault, I was just born a long time ago) and have medically diagnosed arthritis but I don't complain ...

as I said, your stance looks good, just deliver the cue straight and hit the little darlings in the holes ...

It looks ok and is actually very similar to mine. However a weakness of mine is that i don't bend from the hips to keep my back straight. You are similar to me in that it looks like you bend over from the waist which can cause lower back problems. Try standing slightly further from the table and bending your left knee more. Then bend from the hips and stick your bottom out. Most of the top pros play with a flat. back neck
coaching is not just for the pros

                      Hi,
Wheres the nearest club where all the best players play, you have such a club?
Do you play league or aspire to?
How long you been playing and what's the high break so far?
How hrs a week you practice?

                        tedisbill:

I agree exactly with Coach Gavin. Butt should be out more to get the back straight and compensation for that should be a little more bend in the left leg. For the right leg, most players lock it straight and forget about it and as long as you turn the foot outwards a little bit you shouldn't feel any strain there once you get used to it.

                          Hi,

There's several clubs near me with excellent players. My mate has 4-5 centuries against me most times I play him, so I'm good at fetching balls out.

I quit league snooker because I don't enjoy the one frame format.

I've been playing seriously for about 2.5 years.

                          My highest break is 112.

I play probably 4-5 times a week at the moment. 3-4 hours each session.

So your doing tour apprenticeship, great because it will stay with you forever. I went this rout and I also started picking up the best few players mannerisms unconsciously but that went away with solo practice and time.
Stay with what your doing and be ambitious with your game, practice routines and don't get to beat-up in sparing, turn back to the practice if its the case.. When you start beating them they may not wanna play you anymore but that's okay, just plonk yourself in a bigger pond
