The line up is a useful routine as it requires you to keep the cue ball close to the middle of the table away from the cushions. A more advanced line up method is to not use the cushions at all. This means your positional play has to be exact.
Ive just really started concentrating on the line up, I only get a short amount of time per week and the best thing to do for me is line up and this routine keeps my game in check, Im only a average player due to lack of table time though this helps your work on your stun shots and work around the black and getting to the black, very useful and enjoyable. I know spend 2 and a half hours just doing line up, as one of my weaknesses is controlling my stun run through shots and this is great pratice for that. But it does need dedication to stick at it and not just play social snooker as overall this does not improve my game as I wont get a chance to work on my weakness.
