i still have a problem with blacks when high, for some reason i am still hitting the near jaw, not far off but still missing my fair share although getting better. i have had to aim thinner than i use to just to pot, especially on the tighter tables.
what i have found is i am not allowing for the nap effect, i have found that when playing delicate or slow rolling shots the black will pull towards the top cushion, so i have to allow for this and aim thinner. i am still struggling to do this consistenly because it just seems wrong when i am down, my brain hasn't accepted that its the correct angle because when looking at it, it seems i will miss on the thin side.
its a case of enforcing this until it becomes accepted , its not a problem on shots that need more power because there is very little time for the black to roll off on the nap so i don't need to adjust anything.

Alabbadi, do you aim for the side Cush angle , this can help with thin cut blacks.
Terry Davidson: Steve Davis used this exercise as a warm-up when he was at his peak in the 80's and never managed to get all 21 as he said when he had done 19 he bottled it. John Parrot used to put 6 on either side of the blue and try and pot all 13 and did manage to do that.
Well I've managed 13 from 15, 7 reds either side of blue, white starting anywhere along the baulk line as stun shot. I've also potted white with blue as follow through, baulk line to black/left pocket 20 from 21 attempts (which feels bloody brilliant ;-) I'm sure most members know about my sighting problems, I've mentioned them often enough on many occasions. So with practice I think I could eventually get 15 from 15 maybe even the magic 21 from 21!
Then again, maybe not! ;-)

Put the white behind the brown and on the cushion, potting the brown in ether black pocket is 3/4 ball, same with the green and yellow. Blue would be 1/2 and pink 1/4. This guide goes on all around the table.

I think he said nap, not map, that's a whole new dilemma lol
Yes I think we are getting to technical. I have gone through the Snooker Gym, Books, IPad Apps and coaching and I have it summed up as one tough game that is very frustrating. I continue to not pot more then three balls in a row in a match but yet in practice this morning I ran the colours twice and missed a yellow after not making good position on yellow off the black that's 12 balls in a row. Terry has really helped me out but I need major coaching on how to play in a match. I think it's called confidence.

i usually aim for the edge of the leather, however as i said it doesn't always work, so i have started aiming thinner but can't get use to that yet as it just feels wrong
Can you explain how the nap works and how it changes your potting angle?
as i understand it the NAP runs from baulk to the top of the table (black spot), now this has effects when playing across the Nap. when playing across from top to bottom the NAP will pull the cueball towards the cushion, and when playing across from baulk end towards top it drags the cueball towards the top cushion. these are for slow rolling balls. so you may need to adjust slightly.
or example rolling the pink to the middle, i have read its advisable to aim slightly thicker from top side and thinner from baulk side.
i think that i'm not at the level yet to make this work or i am not exactly sure how much to adjust yet, but i have seen the effect and i'm still working on it
Think of the nap like the fur of a cat. When you stroke it with the hairs it is smooth, but stroke it the other way and you get resistance.
The longer the distance of the shot, the greater the effect of the nap.
Different tables also have different amounts of effect due to variations in the length of the fibres in the cloth. Newly reclothed club tables tend to have more of an effect from the nap. Worn club tables less so. Professional tables less again as they play on super fine cloth with hardly any nap.
As alabadi said this is for slow moving balls. Stunning balls in with some power rather than dribbling them in can help avoid the effects of the nap as the ball is not in contact with the fibres long enough to have an effect.
Also, side on the cue ball will cause different effects depending on if you are playing from the baulk end to the top of the table or vice versa. Playing slowly from the brown spot towards the pink spot with left hand side will cause the ball to drift towards the left. But if played slowly against the nap from the pink spot towards the brown spot with left hand side will cause the cue ball to drift towards the right. Try it.
This is one of the reasons why it is good to avoid side unless you are a very good player.
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins. I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)
Lets start again lol: Map, yes map or guides, when potting a color off its spot 1/4, 1/2, 3/4.. Okay folks lesson 2: put the white it the jaws of the black pocket now and pot the y,b,g they will be 3/4, 1/2 and green into the yellow pocket is 1/4 ball, easy game

Lol. If only it was that easy eh j6uk!!! Haha. Good drill though mate. It's actually a good idea treating the table as a bit of map! Interesting concept.
You may defeat me but I will fight you to the very end!!!!
Last one: white on the side cush parallel with the pink, potting the pink in the corner or middle is the same angle 1/4. Black in its pocket and blue in the top corner are both 3/4 ball. Oh and if you play that black i just mentioned with top at pace the white should go in the middle pocket.. It is what it is.
For some players its an enlightening moment

if white is on the cushion you can only play with top..lol
on a serious note, the angles you mentioned are possibly correct , however knowing what an exact contact for 1/4 ,1/2 and 3/4 ball is the tricky bit
