    stricki:

Just remember the first rule of the snooker set-up and that is COMFORT. If the square stance causes you any discomfort at all I would try and find a solution using the boxer's stance.

I haven't given up on anything yet Terry, I might even end up going out on a limb of trying to use my left eye. But small steps and time are the essence here I think. I see no use in trying lots of things at the same time as I won't know what's caused what.

I'll be keeping up to date on my posts here about my development and hopefully progress!

My aim, I want to get back to the regular 50+/60+ breaks margin I had not sooooo long ago!

Thanks for all the input, when are you coaching again in Britain?

        Hi,
From the video, we can see that when Uncle Jack plant his leg on the line, his head/nose/belly is actually on the left side of the cue ball. I suppose he re-acquire the line of aim as he gets down?

Is this somewhat different to what Nic, Alan Trigg or Chris Small is advocating ? To plonk the head straight down the line of aim?

          Hi Brian

Anthony Mcgill is right handed and seems to cue directly under his right eye.
Another forum member posted this link yesterday:

          http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6qSCYEn8HY&feature

The link was posted originally to show a great sporting gesture from Mcgill, but if you go to 3 hrs and 30 seconds (3:00:30) You'll see a good shot of Mcgill getting down on the shot with the camera in line and head on. It's quite a wide angle camera so there will probably be a lot of examples for you to look at.
If you do cue with the cue directly under either eye, I think it's important to get that eye over the line of shot before you throw the cue on the line of aim, and before you drop down on the shot. This makes things look more clear and true (to me at least). I've had the same issues in the past as you with the eyes, so I'd give it a go if I were you.

Ethanat, yes you are right. Most coaches now say get your head and nose on the line of aim as you come in. That's what I coach too. Just shows how coaching methods change over time.

Just to inform you all of progress,

I've really tried to concentrate on having a square stance and it's getting easier. I'm potting lots of cracking pots again, so obviously it's going in the right direction. The consistency is causing me problems though because I think I'm still putting a lot of concentration into the exact getting into the right stance. I'm quite sure though that this should and will get more first nature the longer I keep at it!

So square stance is I feel the right way, but it still needs work!

                I'll keep you posted,

                Brian.

another player who is right handed and right eye dominant is doug mountjoy and he has a boxer stance. i am RH/RE dominant as well and i've been changing my stance around and working out the best and most comfortable stance for myself. recently i've been trying out a square stance like Hendry (hendry is RH/RE as well if im not wrong). Some people would say tht the dominant eye theory is not necessary, but for me, once it gets in your head, its best tht you fix it!! both ways are right as long as it helps u with your game.
