That's true. I'm missing, but loving it though...

Never liked pockets playing too easy... I find the sight of balls dropping in when imo they shouldn't have, well, irksome... :snooker:

There are standardized templates for amateurs which are sold by the IBSF and there are also the older B&SCC ones. I would bet every table fitter worth his salt will have a set of templates and those that are not the best fitters probably don't have them.

Also, a lot of referees own sets of templates and I consider the B&SCC ones to be the best for club tables (the WPBSA do not sell their own templates although they probably could and make a bit of money I imagine)

Thanks Terry, that was informative... Going to bring the topic up to the club owners and see if I can find out what they're using.

There should be a standardised pocket template for consistency's sake.
ive played on the star tables in Gloucester and believe me they are like buckets compared to the two club tables i mentioned .

Those 2 club tables can't have any pockets. I've just come back from the academy in Gloucester and the pockets were tighter than a nun's chuff!

The tight table I was playing on the pockets look tight even when playing a straight pot, the club I play at every table seems different though

Do you prefer them like Katie Price's?

The SWSA has two types of tables as far as pockets go. The lower room and the one on the left at the top of the stairs have pockets which are a bit tighter than template however the 4 tables in the room on the right at the top of the stairs have slightly easier corner pockets cut to WPBSA template as that's the room the pros use for practice most of the time

We have one table that used to be owned by our club founder "George Scott rip" table 14 is the one to avoid!!! It was his personal table at home and is just so difficult!!! I've only played on in once and gave up after a few hours!!! The VERY promising youngsters in our club often practice on it though. I've watched one of our boys hit a ton on it!!! How???? I will never know.
You may defeat me but I will fight you to the very end!!!!

How can they do that when these tables are used for professional tournaments?

That was the way it was when I was there last time in April, 2011. As they get the tables re-clothed every 3 months or so perhaps they have had the other tables brought to template now.

I played on both and the tables in the 'pro' room definitely had corner pockets which were a little easier than the tables in the other 2 rooms but I believe the tables in the pro room were exactly on template whereas the other tables were slightly tighter than template.

I hope they're all the same now. I'm down there Saturday to watch Ronnie and others in action.

I prefer tables with tighter pockets. Makes me concentrate more and that is the weakest part of my game.
