Ah right, j6 put up some quiz questions, things like where will the white travel if played with top after potting the pink for example, and which one of these pictures shows a quarter ball shot A,B,Or C, there were a few more if I remember rightly three quarter ball and half ball as well , I got them all wrong , typical !
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

It's making more sense now. Thanks.

Is all of this meant to provide a guide on where the white ball would go under certain conditions? If so, I would assume it's to do with patterns?

Something wrong with this last attachment. I don't see anything. Is this broken?

using the grid we can now look at some more bread and butter shots. starting with high on the black. the lower white is the all important 3/4, the middle is 1/2, then with the top white we have 1/4 and 1/2 pink

Please keep posting these , it's very interesting. When you say the lower white is the all important 3/4 black, is this because this is the shot that you try to leave on the black as it gives you the easiest shot but the most areas to play the white into from the black? If I'm on the right track could you do a kind of best positions to have the white ,off each colour, that gives you the easiest shot but with the most options, if I'm not explaining this correctly I'm sorry I'm kind of finding it hard to put into words what's in my head.

I know the 1/4 ball pink is when the cue ball is on the side cushion parallel with the pink, but which line is the 3/4 ball pink line? Is it line A or line B?

                      Thanks!

                      I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

3/4 ball gives you more cue ball position options than 1/2 ball or 1/4 ball.

Right from the start of playing I just knew there would be an optimum position to land the white on a ball(especially the black) I did ask once way back and was told it was half ball, I won't say who told me, one ,I wouldn't want to embarrass them, and two I can't remember who it was. Thanks for that Mythman. What is the best position when low on the black?

pink to the corner. first white is 1/4ball, second 1/2ball and the top white is 3/4ball

I am glad you said that, because it has been driving me crazy b/c I know that 1/4 ball pink is when the cue ball is on the side cushion parallel with the pink.

The image is from "Improve Your Snooker" page 47 introduced by Clive Everton (but I am not sure who wrote it?)

Maybe that is why I wasn't sure which grid line would be 3/4 ball.

I know full ball runs to the middle pocket (i.e. straight shot).

                                Thanks j6uk
