As a junior I often miss read the potting angle, I thought 3/4 and 1/2 ball was thicker than it really was, and that 1/4 ball was thinner. What angles potting angles trouble you and what's your method: ghost ball, fractions, overhead lights or other?

When I figured out that half ball pots you have to aim at the edge of the ball, well that made all the difference. So if straight in pots you are aiming to centre, and half ball is at the edge, then anything thinner than half ball is between the edge and centre.
Thinnest of thin pots are edge of cue ball to edge of object ball, so anything thinner than half ball I started aiming the edge of the cue ball between the centre and edge of the object ball.
I hope that makes sense, it's the way I learned how to really aim. I don't really do any of that stuff anymore, these days I recognize the way the angles look. It either looks right or it doesn't I guess. But having those three reference points helped me figure out everything else.

Its something that Ive never bothered to try and understand, when someone told me it doesn't work with the modern light-box lighting.
My basic understanding was its physically picking out light points from the shadows over the ob to focus on.

i struggle with 3/4 and slightly thicker, i just can't adjust for them always hitting them thinner than i need. its ok saying half ball, aim for the edge, but how does one really know its a bang on half ball unless you set it up with your hand.. i find them hard to spot.
my method of aiming is arc coverage, once i have picked out the contact point i focus on that and looking from behind the cueball i try to figure out how much of the white needs to cover the OB to contact that spot.

Can you see the angle for the 3/4, 1/2 and 1/4? A, B or C?

Hope so after failing the last test.
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)
