  • Should I use the shorter or longer cue??

    Hi

I have 2 cues at the moment, one is a 57" 3/4 and the other is a 58" one piece
I cue much better with the 58" and pot mid range and long pots more consistently,
However this cue is very stiff and has a larger tip so isn't so good around the black
    Spot.

The 57" has a lot more flex and I can position the white much better, but find
That I don't cue so well on the longer pots, this cue is also a little short which I find annoying
As 2 of my fingers can't even get onto the cue.

Should I persevere with the longer cue and get used to it as I have a better cue action
Or stick to the shorter cue as I have better touch.
I did look into getting the shorter cue lengthened but it's a no can do.
I don't want to get bad habits as I seem to be cueing to the left with shorter cue.

    I need a coach 😥

    Hi Booters

Choice of cue is a very personal thing and I suggest you stick with the 1 piece if that's working on the long pots... it may come good around the black spot.

I have a similar problem where I love the dimensions of a 3/4 cue which lacks a couple of ounces and have a perfectly weighted 1 piece with an 8mm tip! I want to enlarge that to 9mm but will lose a couple of inches off the length. Am considering having a mini butt fitted, buying 2 mini butts and cutting 1 of them down to 2 1/2 inches... Am a little unsure as it's a Hunt & O'Byrne Green Label!!! Grrrr

Alternative is to sell that and have one made to my specs I s'pose!!!
Wish I cued as consistently as this fella!

I was considering a similar thing with the mini butt, I also have a 55" pool cue with an 8.5 tip and doing the same with that, really can't afford to get a new cue, only places I can go to without travelling a huge distance is john parris and Robert osbourne, but they are way out of my price range.

      Maybe one day!!
