  • Probably more snow than mix. We got about 3" overnight and it's still snowing but temp is about -2C so maybe some freezing rain.

Can you pot the black into the middle from the spot? (Without using the curling effect). Just try it with the cueball at a little below middle pace. To me your side pockets look fine

Bad weather coming in again but looks like you will get a lot more snow and mix then we will.
Oh I don't know if there is nothing wrong with the table Les, maybe not the pockets , but that roll you have on it can't be right, that must affect how you play.
The black routine and the red routine are great things to try, black helps you learn how the cue ball works, and although much easier than the normal line up, once you get say ten reds down, you have to have some type of control over the white to clear the rest.

Yes just has to be exact. I spent an hour tonight running the red line up. I ran an 11 then came a 12. Missed a red on the pink spot which I had left the cue ball in perfect position to stun up for a red next to blue spot and my last red was on the blue spot. One thing I have noticed that I automatically started to look for the best red that will leave me with more then one choice for next red. Also really working on the follow through and holding it there to all balls have stopped moving. This is where Nic's Gadget is very useful. That was one of things that I found at Terry's when he hooked me up I was striking the cue ball and then drawing the cue back instead of following through. No snow here Terry looks like solid rain.

        • Les:

Think about it. Just using the pink 12 pots would be a 42 break, never mind the black.

Also, I get the feeling that somehow you are taking your eye off the object ball at the time of strike as missing a pink off the spot to the corner is relatively hard to do unless the cueball is near the cushion. vmax suspected you were doing this and it seems to me it might be the reason you break down so lock the eyes on the object ball either at the front pause or else near the back of the backswing somewhere but make certain you lock them on like a laser.

We got about a foot or more of snow yesterday and overnight with no rain or freezing rain. I have a table at the back of the house with about 2ft of snow sitting on top of it. Had a student booked for 10am today but I advised him to delay until Wed as some of the roads are closed and all school buses are canceled up here.

          • Hi Terry,
Yes I think you guys are right. I think my eyes are moving as I start my downswing. I will do what I use to with golf coaching. Don't look at the hole wait to hear the ball go in the cup because it is out of your control once you start your downswing.

We had snow, ice, freezing rain and rain what a mess.

            • It might be locking your eyes on the OB at the front pause might be too long to hold the focus for you. That's the way I do it but it might not be right for you. Try moving the eyes to the object ball just before the end of your backswing (or else use a rear pause and do it then). I really think this is the reason you're missing easy pots like pinks off the spot.

It's either that or else your backswing or maybe delivery is crooked sometimes. Slow the backswing right down to where it's just crawling and this should give you sufficient time to focus on the OB however it's a different rhythm and might take some time to get used to.

We got about 15" of snow with drifting. The guy just did my driveway and there were some 2ft drifts in front of the garage. The roads seem OK as traffic is moving but I'm not going anywhere today. I might have a buyer for that GBL 3/4 cue but I told him I can't send it until at least tomorrow or maybe Wed.

No Monte Carlo for me tonight that's for sure!

I spent an hour this afternoon just potting easy pots and really concentrating on too main points. 1. Keeping my eye on the OB at front pause and keeping it there, 2. Making sure I follow through and keep it extended until the balls have stopped moving. Tonight I went down to run my red lineup and I set a new high of 14. I ran some 10's and higher also. Received my cue today which seems to fit perfect. GBL C4 Ebony with four splices of Snake Wood 1 Peice, 56.3" Length, 9.5 mm Tip, 30 mm Butt & 18.75 oz feels so solid. With this cold weather that has moved in I will get lots of time to practice tomorrow. -40 C with wind chill is to cold to work outside.

Here is a link to post pictures of your cue

                • HA! This morning it was -26C here with wind chill at -48C along with blowing snow. To show you how women think, my wife is heading out shortly to get her hair done and she only goes to one hair salon in the south end Guelph which is about 40km down country highways which have bad blowing snow. They've closed highway 78 between Kitchener and Stratford due to blowing snow.

Just had the guy in to do the driveway and again there were 2ft drifts this morning and of course I had to shovel out my wife's garage door so she can get out in about 5 minutes.

Les...it looks like you are making some progress. Pay attention to the focus on the OB and keep the grip loose and the backswing slow.

This might warm you up a bit.

                    http://www.weatherzone.com.au/news/r...heatwave/26296

Here in Australia parts have reached close to 50 degree Centigrade (i.e. 122 Fahrenheit).

Cars not parked in the shade had melted tires. Great beer drinking temperature (if you are in an air-conditioned pub).

My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
                    I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

A cooler full of cold beer on ice under a shade tree sounds perfect. Here we don't need a cooler. Our news channel did a test and soaked a T Shirt and laid it down outside in 5 minutes they picked it up and it looked like a cardboard cut out. These temps are crazy. Yes Terry things are looking up as far as my game. I think the real change is the grip. Too bad you live so far away, we could have some great matches every afternoon and I am sure your match game would even get better then it already is and I know mine would improve drastically. I would really like to get up for a few games before our next qualifier or maybe you can come my way. I am going to stick to the same practice routine until the next qualifier that being easy pots then red line up then hi and lo blacks and maybe the odd practice game against myself.

                        • I cannot believe how this red lineup is changing the way I plan my shots and the way I execute each shot. Tonight i ran a bunch of 14's then I finally made a 15 and made sure I had good position to start a new lineup I ended up with 27 missed a slow roller into the side which was dead in when I hit it but the roll of the table took it off line. I had perfect shape on my last two reds which I went on and made. Just for kicks before I finished my practice session I put five reds on the table one below the black and four between the black and pink. I ran 5 reds with 5 blacks and then the pink before missing a fine cut on the black for 46.

Now let me get this straight. Myself and others have been telling you for ages to do the line-up but you didn't because 'you didn't like it'. Now you're trying it and seeing immediate improvement on cueball control and stringing together balls.

Perhaps there's a lesson to be learned there?
