This means that they can take players down avenues that are just not necessary, for example changing a cue action from something that is repeatable and gets success but has one or two little kinks (I would call it character) to something that is text book yet uncomfortable for the player or that requires over 1000 hours of frustration to embed.

Snooker is a game best enjoyed not laboured over.
So true. I spent this summer (first time in years), trying different cues and tweaking but the fact is my best play has always been when my mind is completely clear and I just play.

I am too long in the tooth for a complete overhaul, I was just shocked to see a while ago my head moving to the side on follow through. I have tried all sorts to rid it hence the video to get some suggestions.

I suspect my eyes followed by my head are looking to see if the pot is in before I have actually hit the cue ball. Thats my theory anyway but easier said than done!

If you do get over for some coaching I would recommend Nic Barrow in Milton Keynes who is probably the best coach to get down into those nitty-gritty technique aspects which make a big difference for the over-40 player.

From what I can see though all you really need is tons of practice and keep working on staying absolutely still. Everything else looks fine

yeah i can see that what you have could unravel a against a player who's got a taylored technique.. what about these lads Adam Shorto and Martyn Desperques, do you get much sparing with them?

          top post I agree -

If anything I'd just go with go with what you have - you are already a ton man who can give anyone a game - what more do you desire from the game? Think back when you where not content and could not make a 50 - different then - This way of playing has been homed from many thousands of hours practice - I'd stick with the technique you have - just get a few more practice routines try a few different shot selections on occasion and free your mind from the technical stuff and just play - the head is where the next big improvement is for you.

Our association is here: http://www.guernseysnooker.com/index.php?page=1. You can see in the high break section that it is not a bad standard for a small island of 60 thousand people (I'm Glenn).

No coach over here but I think I might visit one in the summer. I just want to get my technique spot on to get more consistency. I just can't work out why on some pots - mostly when potting to the right - something happens when starting to follow through and my head moves towards the pocket. I tell myself not to do it and I'm convinced I haven't until watching back and it is still there.
Not a bad league, 4 divisions, it seems to be well sponsored, monies for winning?

We're all good mates and usually have a knock before matches

Just trophies for the leagues. Prize money for the individual league which is our version of the Premier League and price money for the annual Guernsey Open.

We get subsidised for trips to things like the Home Internationals and our annual 'big' game against Jersey would be paid for if in Jersey.

if you haven't done it already and you got the time and money, i'd take a weeks snooker holiday at the shefield academy. i found it really made me tidy up my technique playing good players all day on top conditions.

Watch the video again and notice how you drop the elbow on about 50% of your shots.
                        Could be significant.
