My own cue doesn't have a smooth shaft, when I turn the shaft around in my fingers I can clearly feel the tiny ridges of the grain but this can't be felt when the cue runs over my thumb as the grain isn't across the shaft but runs along the length of it.
I don't understand why so many players think that this is a bad thing and diss cues like mine which do not have the ridges of the grain smoothed out with filler.
The cues that I make are like this also, I don't use grain filler at all and only sand down the shaft to a 500 grade finish, which is plenty smooth enough for anyone.
You can bet your last dollar that those Cue Craft cues on John Parrotts website that are so cheap are Chinese ones as well. There is no way that a cue made in England is going to have such a low cost. Sold in England doesn't mean made in England and that could also apply to your Peradon as well. It is rather silly of you to have a snobbish attitude to chinese cues when you could be using one anyway.
I'll make you an offer mate, send me the correct money and I will get one of those chinese cues for you, remove whatever finish they have put on it, give it an oiled finish, free of charge, and send it on to you. You will only have to pay for the cue and the postage from me to you.
Could that be the case? Are Cue Craft cues made in China as well? The cues I saw were the ones that are made to order i.e. custom cues. I do not think those would be Chinese. Just another thing I noticed on another site, both the cues I liked (custom ones) are being sold for the same price on another site as English Pool cues... This is a bit dodgy I wonder why that is the case... Isnt the make of a snooker and pool cue different? As for my Peradon, well I can continue to believe it is made in England given that a snooker mate bought it and brought it down from UK himself. Even if it isnt, it feels ok to believe so
Thanks for the generous offer. I am still thinking on a few options. Steve dont you think something can be done for the cue and a hard case from UK within 215 GBP including delivery? Let us forget about the extensions but I think just the cue and case. I think I have changed my mind about only sticking to hand made cues... Since I do not have enough money, I have decided reluctantly to go for a machine spliced cue no worries.... Even then, my money is small?
Last but not the least, what would you recommend- 60 inches or 59 inches. A few cues are available in 59 but for 60 it is only custom made."I am still endeavouring to meet someone funnier than my life" - Q. M. Sidd

Very little inexpensive stuff is made in the UK anymore as our manufacturing base moved to the far east many years ago. High end very expensive stuff is still made here and as only the rich can afford it the price doesn't matter.
