Hands up who googled Proprioception
save time here-
meaning "one's own", "individual" and perception, is the sense of the relative position of neighbouring parts of the body and strength of effort being employed in movement.
Just me then - sad
Just wish i'd have sat next to sturpee in school - would have been much easier ride.Last edited by Byrom; 20 February 2014, 03:53 PM.

You can pot with your bloody eyes closed because the eyes are then not focussing on anything at all.
When the eyes are open they guide the hand, fact not fiction and saying otherwise isn't going to help anyone. It's hard to pot balls with a Chimpanzee tea party going on in your head

The closed eye drill in coaching is used to have the player concentrate on his rhythm and timing.
If someone wants a real test on whether or not the hand follows the eye just set up a slightly off-straight shot and then focus on the pocket at the time of strike and see what happens then. It would take someone with an iron will to be able to keep the cue in a straight delivery to the object ball as the hand will follow the eyes and correct the line of aim of the cue towards the pocket. I've tried this exercise and I cannot pot the ball, even on simple shots (that aren't over the pocket).

Aiming Without Looking
'Whether you think you can or you think you can't , you're probably right' - Henry Ford
Our brain is a very flexible malleable tool that can cope remarkably well with varying stimulus. The intricacies of ball and a pocket in the game of snooker has no real meaning to our processing. Our brain can cope with 'put this object there' in a variety of ways if allowed to function in a variety of ways.
What does the brain do to get you through the complexities of day to day life?
I have even managed to type this without looking at the keyboard, amazing considering the constraints that are apparently on my mind and body.

How would your game improve if you possessed the answers yourself, not needing the solutions from someone on the forum?
