  • Locking the upper arm

Hey people, just wanted to have different views of how one can lock the upper arm without causing any tension in the body???

I had to add this to my technique and all I did was switch to using the second finger and then practiced the line-up while concentrating on keeping the elbow up as high as possible (but trying not to lift the cue into the chest although that still happened a bit).

Terry so how exactly do you keep it from moving. Do you lock the shoulder or tense the upper arm?

As vmaxsteve said in the other string, I lock the deltoid muscle and try and keep it locked so the upper arm will stay in one position and the elbow will not drop

'locking' implies tension, and that's a no no! everything should be relaxed and just the elbow, like tigers sholder in this video, is your fixed point. this also perfectly shows how a snooker player should keep their head throughout the shot

Thanks alot guys, I gave that deltoid contracting method a try and my game has improved dramatically. I'm so smooth and accurate now. Just a little more practice to get used now... Thanks again
