I don't know if this will work for you but here goes. I have the same problem with 'wandering eye' where I try and lock on at the front pause and try and stay locked on at delivery but I've found the damned eyes still don't stay locked on.

So I was experimenting this morning with trying different ways to get this done and I found if I REALLY slow my backswing down it has helped me to focus on the object ball and in addition it seems to help me a great deal driving though the cueball (or accelerating right to the end of the delivery).

It even seems to help a lot on lower power shots.

I can't recommend this for everyone however a very slow backswing would help everyone as it's much easier to keep a slower backswing straight (and consistent with the power required). Or it could be in my old age I just need more time to think.

Also want to emphasize...I mean REALLY SLOW.

Cheers Terry, I will try that, one thing I have found that works is a longer back pause, (or more probably a proper back pause)I know this is something that's not in your cue action naturally, but I think we are doing the same thing two different ways, giving our eyes longer to lock on, you by slowing down the backswing me by the back pause , but just to confuse everything, sometimes it feels too long and I get wandering eye because I'm looking at one point and my brain starts to wander followed by my eyes.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

This is how I do it and whne I do it correctly and consistently it really helps...

Lock my eyes on the potting spot on the object ball BOB and get down in to address looking at that with fixed eyes without moving my head. During feathers I concentrate on the BOB and have just a tiny look at the CB.. Front pause I look at the CB then at front pause I switch my eyes to the BOB on OB and then do the back swing and then while keeping my eyes locked on BOB I have a final back pause and keep focusing on BOB and then strike... I know this might even mean I am focusing too much on BOB but then this helps greatly...!

Here Sidd - seeing as you already have more coaches than Birmingham bus station I thought you might like one from your own neck of the woods -

if your locking on on the front pause, and with a really slow back swing, know wonder your eyes are starting to do the crossword.. its simply too long a time with nothing going on, and it ends up being a bit of a hit and hope

yes it can be learned i guess, this timing of the shot, as you well know tel. you know doing what you did at 40+

okay maybe not too slow imo, unless you've seen the cue coming back

                Bryom,

this is Shehram Changezi two times national champion and three times winner of the Punjab cup. However, he has had a big fight with the Pakistan Snooker Association and has been off ranking lately. His point was to support the Pakistani players financially and the association always talks about lack of sponsors. But he is playing the nationals again this year after a break. Has already qualified for the quarter finals.

I personally know him He also recommended a longer cue for me ya know

                  J6UK,

I do not practice my English trust me. I write freely here without concentrating on the TECHNIQUE of writing This forum is not good for that trust me consider this: this is a UK based forum i.e. .co.uk hosted website however it only supports American English spellings and I can pick that up easily being an OCD and being such a freak about DETAILS yes I do pick a phrase or two from you lads, however, it is rather semi-informal or informal English that is mostly written here. Having born and lived in a common wealth country and educated by missionary school and college run under the Church of England, yes learning British English was the only option for me to which I am thankful.

As for my practice, I write books and fiction short stories remember and keep Iris Murdoch, Dickens, the Bronte sisters and a few others of like in my company as well as Sir Humphry Appleby from the Yes Minister LOL

as to the question of banter/lifestyle well call me Ronnie Woods if you may; but I just love this game and when I go down and play my snooker two things happen for me hahaha 1. When I enter the club I hear 'Let me Entertain you' in my ears and when I play well I hear the crucible applaud what is so bad about that.

Last but not the least, I spoke to Terry recently and he finally sorted out my grip and I today ANNOUNCE with authority that all my grip problems are finally sorted out and I wont have to think about it anymore... inshAllah ! its done and final ! Took me a long time but I am finally there.... By the way I hit a 48 and a 45 in a match last night with my longer cue LOL

                  With love and regards,
                  Sidd.

J6UK: You said and I quote "if your locking on on the front pause, and with a really slow back swing, know wonder your eyes are starting to do the crossword.. its simply too long a time with nothing going on, and it ends up being a bit of a hit and hope"

If that is the case (and since I also do that as Steve Davis also quoted it as one of the ways to go about it in his book) however if you contest it hampers timing then what do you say is the way to go??? This is important for me.

                    thanking you in anticipation.

If you know him - go to him and play him - you will learn a lot from him because I think he knows his stuff - writing about snooker does not make you play better it only gives you more to think about - get on the table more and play better players in the real world more if you want to improve.

He does not play regular anymore. He took a break and now is back. He had a club in another city but he sold it. Yes indeed you are right about that, however, I am quite satisfied with what I have achieved so far.

I came to this forum and learnt a lot. Then I posted my video and got to know my major drawbacks. Worked hard on them and I now seem to have resolved most of them and my mind is finally at ease. i have noticed that as my mind went relaxed, i have started ot keep focusing on BOB during strike and things are coming my way now.

I understand that seeing a coach and playing other better players is key however for the time being I am trying to find time for a solo routine... Lets see...! I will keep this in mind and try to improve.
