Barry pinches strange approach to shot?

Was watching the match between Barry Pinches and ROS, noticed a very strange approach to Barry's game.

He seems to lock his head / neck to his left shoulder while twisting down onto the shot.


Is there a benefit ? no other Pro seems to do this

Yes he does that also he positions his feet funny i would guess maybe it works for him and not
the others

Watched Barry Pinches match today against Ronnie Osullivan he missed a lot of easy shots he used to play much better in his early years

I'll second that he used to be the pro in the club I played at, and he was a hell of a lot better then imo.

But he has changed his approach to the shot a few times in recent years because he used to look at the floor just after he sighted the shot and just before he got down on the shot.....

Probably just the pressure of playing ROS.

Something happened between 2011 and 2012 because in 2011 he wasn't doing it and by 2012 he was.

His approaches have changed so much over years, if you check out this earlier stuff from him you seeing him having a looking down before he gets in the shot......

Just looks like he's gone overboard on the tinkering side of things.

Just trying to capture some old form.

Its not pretty to watch.

I've heard (can't reveal the source) that he tweaks his technique virtually on a daily basis, making minor changes all the time. It might be he is trying to battle the effects of age and his loss of some hand-eye coordination.

I go through this kind of battle daily and have found the best results by removing all the moving parts and keeping it as simple as possible. Perhaps his weird set-up is so he can combat the loss of coordination

I was reading something recently by an author that has a predilection for wearing some very bright shirts that there was a pro who changes his technique on a daily basis. I guess that person is Barry Pinches then.

His technique couldn't have been that bad as he has made over a 100 centuries in his career.
