J6 you know me I just like the friendship and if I pick up the odd thing I am doing well. You have heard Terry in the past say I go off in my own little world and not do a thing he has told me... I feel it is really going to come along now and yes Longbomber I understand about the cue ball and letting the pot look after itself but I have just spent 6 months pulling my hair out night after night ruining anything I did have. Tonight I ran all the reds then ran long blues for kicks because I have been having trouble missing by 3" or more to the right. Tonight I ran 10/10 then continued with the other 5 reds and finished 13/15. Now one more routine run the colours. Then Brush, block and iron so I am ready for some games with Floyd tomorrow afternoon.

being hooked is the first step. the next one 'if you wanna still be a good player that is' is to cut the crap, knuckle down, and start carving out your own game. throw yourself into it by hours of learning, not by writing and reading here but by time on your table.. for me that will be your next and biggest learning curve

68 on the line up? That's at least eighteen pots with position, not bad going from someone who ran out of position on the very first red of a red line up! Get a hold of that cue ball and you will clear it in a month, By the way that is a more centre ball stun shot not a below centre screw type stun, that way you won't end up miles away from the line, and will come up high on the next ball which makes it ten times easier,at the very least you will get a nice choice of reds. When did you develop that gunslinger stance Les, or have you always played with two bent legs, I never noticed before.

J6 I understand, 5 hours on the table yesterday and now today I have Floyd coming for a few games and probably some practice later. I will defiantly carve out my own game with my unique style the same as I did in golf do to my screwed up right arm. My next big challenge is a bow tie for our Championship next week. Having one custom made because of my right arm. I cannot reach my collar with my right hand to hook the clasp so I have to be able to put it on with one hand.

Funny you mention the stun on the black, I setup to hit basically Center ball and then my mind tells me I am going right into the line so i end up hitting below Center and I end up on the rail so that is why I practice that shot in my line up. As for my stance yes I have always had both legs bent. I know my left leg should be straight but I had problems a couple years ago with my sciatic nerve after spending months at the GYM so if I straighten it right out I can feel it.

                      • Hit it centre Les, you will be surprised when you get the hang of that shot how you can just play it over and over again staying on the same side of the line, just centre stun back on the black, centre stun back on the next red etc etc, it's a great shot to have in the bag, if you want to go narrower with the white go above canter stun, if you want the white to go wider below centre , then you get into the pace of the shot which affects everything again, but it's well worth practicing those type of shots, it will bring your game on leaps and bounds. I reckon you could do seven reds and blacks(two below and five above) without having to use any more than three power,( that's how you understand it isn't it?) if you get that white in the right place, it totally changed my game understanding how the white works off cushions round the black spot.
Another great shot is stun around the pink spot, this helps a great deal with the line up as well , I think it was Byrom(where's he gone?) that used to advocate this type of shot to learn.
As for the sciatica I know exactly what you mean, I suffer from bouts of it, and a bit of disk trouble , that's why I struggle with any more than a couple of hours practice a day, which might just be a good thing as I would never get anything else done as I would be in the club all the time lol.

                        • Now that I have a Black pocket that I can actually pot balls to I will be working on that and also I like to play the pink off its spot leaving the cue ball where it lies which is great practice.

I had the elbow smashed when I was 4 years of age and it was not set proper so now I have only about 30 degree movement in it. Cannot straighten it nor can I bend it far enough to do a top button up on a dress shirt. Besides that it is fine...LOL
