You are always asking about my golf.... 40 years later I can still grab a bucket of balls spend a half hour on the range and go out and shoot around par.
im just so surprised that with your background that you come across as so feeble in your overall approach to another competitive sport/game, especially a game thats so close to golf like snooker is

At 50 I guess most good players are starting a downward slide and I am trying to get better. Am I dreaming? If I go according to my golf I should be a great player in 10 years but I will be 60 that's too late. I want to be good now which I guess is part of my problem.
That's still good though, better to be 55 years old, knocking in 50s, than a 55 year old that gave up trying and still can't make 30. So it's all good.
Try and enjoy the journey for what it is. Each year that goes by, you'll be a better player than you were the year before.WPBSA Level 2 - 1st4Sport Coach

enjoy it les because the only thing that that one ton of table you have in your dungeon has for you if you don't give it and your play the right tlc?! is pain in the chest, for real. you can't fight this game.
get your head down and report back once in a while, not roll a few balls in then bash the key on here for an hour.

If you want to knock in tonnes after just a year of playing, then you need to put in more than 3 hours a day. At least 5 to 6 hours a day plus serious match play.Mayur Jobanputra, Snooker Coach and Snooker Enthusiast

Ring any bells lol." Practice to improve not just to waste time "

What might work for you Les is a set of numbered spots and stripes 2 & 1/16 inch pool balls to practise with. It's so much easier to see the contact point on the object ball as 99% of the time you will have a reference point on the object ball that can be focussed on rather than a plain block of colour.
You can focus on the line of the green colour in the middle of the ball for a dead straight shot, the edge of the black circle around the number for a 1/4 ball shot to the left. In the middle of the green colour for a half ball shot to the right, right on the number four for finer than 1/4 ball to the left, right on the white colour for a very fine shot to the right, in the middle of the white colour for a half ball shot to the left etc etc.
I bought a set a few years ago that I use to play pool on a snooker table, Superpro they are and only cost about £25 and are made from a nylon resin that rarely kick at all.
