Played some games of snooker tonight and wasn't playing all that well at first, my form is normally on and off, i am always tweaking with my cue action trying to improve my consistency, anyways i normally have a long back pause in my cue action but for the last couple of frames tonight i thought i would speed the back pause up and not make it so long, normally pause for around 5secs or so, and my potting improved right away, was knocking some really good long straight pots in and everything seemed much easier to pot, sometimes i was even coming back slow and then forward without any pause and i was still potting very nicely, is this just a fluke or is this a better technique than pausing for so long, maybe i am pausing for too long and breaking the cue action up, would love to hear your views on this?.

The best thing in my opinion is to be as consistent with your cue action as you can, I would advise you to stop changing your pause at the back swing and find something that feels comfortable, whether it’s 1, 2 sec, or 5, make sure it’s the same every time, reparation is key. Just work it into your game until it feels natural, changing your action or cueing technique all the time will leave you frustrated in the long run as you will find that you lack "consistency" just as you said in the first few lines of your post. Good luck with your game mate. Hope this helps.
