  • Chin off cue

Anyone tried cueing without chin contact on the cue? I tried it tonight. Chin about half an inch above.

I could do a long backswing and follow through without any contact happening and was surprised how straight and smooth I could cue.

    Chin off cue

I have always played with no chin contact as I wear glasses and even though I can bend my neck back quite far I get about an inch above the shaft.

I too wear glasses and have stopped trying to get my chin directly on the cue. Strangely. My cueing accuracy and long potting has improved quite a bit. I find providing I use my chest as a guide (around the nipple area) then I'm cueing fine.

A great number of pool player play with chin well off cue and very upright position always wondered why.

Smurphs has his chin ever so slightly off the cue with no chest connection point.

If it's good enough for him?..........

This is interesting i too wear glasses and for last 3 yrs have developed a chin
off cue approach ( around 2 inch off ) I for sure play better and pot more
accurately with this style of play and cant hit a barn door when i do try and
put my chin on the cue. I cant ever remember myself playing this good before
i started wearing glasses and playing with chin off cue so maybe my cueing
has become more accurate to compensate for the chin off cue method.

Terry Griffiths often played with his chin off the cue. It didn't stop him winning a World Championship.
