Thanks 100-upper for the ball size.

my comment about Clive Everton, is that with the modern games as they are and the popular understanding amongst followers and non-followers, the term should be snooker table, as unfortunately billiards is no doing so well
or maybe we should use the term, as per the Thurston website "billiard-snooker table"
I am happy with using both terms
    Up the TSF! :snooker:

        Some interesting stuff here lads.
We all know things vary from area to area but overall in my experience nationally & internationally English Billiards is holding its own (or at least not losing players at a higher rate than Snooker).
There are over 120 Leagues in England, with the overall standard of play at the top end nationally at a very, very high level.

That's good to know Thecuecoach, as it's pretty dire up our way, the same fella wins the singles every year, and I think he's in his middle seventies lol, but can make 150-200 plus breaks, so he is very good, but then the standard drops to around fifties.

Matthew Bolton just won the Australian billiards championship.

His highest break during the tournament was 736.

Footage of the final available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzEYaip49KU

Matthew will be playing as one of the wildcards in the Goldfield's which starts next week.

He plays Andrew Higginson and if he wins that match he has to play Neil Robertson.
My favourite players: Walter Lindrum (AUS), Neil Robertson (AUS), Eddie Charlton (AUS), Robby Foldvari (AUS), Vinnie Calabrese (AUS), Jimmy White, Stephen Hendry, Alex Higgins, Ronnie O'Sullivan, Dominic Dale and Barry Hawkins.
            I dream of a 147 (but would be happy with a 100)

Thanks for the link. They are both pretty accomplished billiards players. Clearly they have an abundance of skill and enough to play snooker at some decent level. I could only watch for about 15 minutes before I felt like pulling my teeth out though - probably more fun to play than watch

Ha! It's like test cricket LB, you either love it or hate it. It is far better to play than watch, but it's better to watch live.

I have been playing now for 2 weeks with coaching and I am enjoying it we have about an hour when I am in the club and it will improve my snooker game because I am beginning to understand the angles and cannons more to the point where I have used the cannon shots to pot reds at snooker also I found that I am getting out of snookers as well. Have a look at the link below Alex Higgins playing billiards and also other well known snooker players playing

Ha! He's not looking at the object ball or the cue ball, I feel another thread coming on,"when poking an audience member with your cue what should you be locked onto"
