i have played league snooker for a few years, and on my day (just like us all) can play well. have only ever looked at cueball on strike. cueing low feels right as i can see through both balls. mentally i sometimes lose focus on where to look, and seem to focus inbetween balls, and miss everything. if i had time i wish id have had some coaching
ive never stepped on to making regular breaks. ive hit 61, have had (give or take) 10 50 breaks and played, without any serious practice, for years.
    find this discussion very interesting

cue ball and object ball players

Ah... the old sighting debate again.

I am 100% certain it needs to be object ball you look at last.
I find if you look at the cue ball, it can work but it takes an exhausting effort and long pots and safetys are virtually guess work.

I will end with my usual this 'where am I looking?' aspect should be removed from your mind entirely.

It is not important! Your brain will sort it out for you unconsciously... and if you allow that, you will be looking at the object ball at the time of strike...

If you think differently, I wish you all the best with your incorrect conclusions.

Really... Don't even think about it. It's not needed.

Pottr could you explain how you get online ,and your shot routine as to what ,when and where you are looking, as I don't really understand when you say don't worry about where you are looking it's not important, for example is it important when you are picking the line, or as you get down, or when you check on the front pause etc etc, what are you looking at during the whole shot, thanks.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

err probably yes, i don't consciously look where the cue is pointing. the theory would say its pointing at the center of the ghost ball.

You have a very solid technique. I'm surprised you're not knocking in tons.

You can have the best technique in the world but if your shot selection is poor you will struggle for life and perhaps make the odd high break through sheer luck of the balls

That's a good point. I've been watching some Stephen Hendry youtube vids recently and he spends quite a bit of time on shot selection.

Explain? Are there videos where he talks about this?

                          Thanks mate, I wish !

As some have mentioned knocking in high breaks is not just about technique. It's shot selection and cue ball control.
I have some way to go yet . I am improving and hope one day it will all click together. And I'll start making some high breaks.

I'm really bad for it i don't take enough care when doing it and always run out of position, that's why atm i''m struggling to get near a ton. Think in the not too distant future i am going to get some coaching in this area

When I went to see Cliff he asked me if I ever did the dot to dot colouring book as a child and of course I said yes. He said that is all positional play is connecting the dots. He makes it sound easy and still can make it look easy. I feel the same way as Alabadi one of these days I hope it will all click together. I hope to go down to visit Cliff soon but I think it will be for a round of golf then it will be me doing the coaching......
