It's reasonable to assume there are players that look at the cue ball, as with most things there are exceptions to the rules, but it's not the correct way of doing things, so if someone wants to improve surely you would tell them the correct method, not the exception.
I am not as convinced as Vmax that it's the only, or most important thing you have to do, as I believe if you don't get online ,stay still ,and cue straight it doesn't matter where you are looking you won't pot anything, but I do agree you have to be looking at the ob to help bring everything together. This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Weak grip and all hunched over with my crooked arm but at 50 I can still move the driver out 300 yards with a nice draw all because I do the rest the mechanics correct. So no more excuses, yes I look totally cramped up over the Snooker table with my bridge hand half off the table and could probably get away with about a 50" cue but if I get the rest of the mechanics correct such as looking at the OB, staying down on the shot and accelerating through the cue ball I will master this game as I am determined to.
hahahaha, that's a good one !!!!!!. Better Vmax than me. This guy knows what he's talking about. I've never seen anyone like you Les.!! So determined to improve his game.
I hope you do'nt mind me saying this. But my compliments. If I miss a pot, I laugh about it. I drink a beer, and I forget about it. To be honest with you, I think I need more discipline. Anyway, I'm trying to enjoy the game.
I hope you enjoy your game too.

maybe at my age which is similar to Les's improvements will be slow, nevertheless with all the determination and the will to learn and put in the hard work one day i will be reporting here to my success rather than my failures which i intend to keep to myself

[QUOTE=alabadi;787976]i think there are lots of people as determined as Les, but they don't publicly announce it on a daily bases. i for one am determined to be a player of high standard one day .

Maybe we need to set routines between us and have competitions on who can complete them first....something like a practice partner but not on the same table. Set your video camera up each time we practice to prove you have completed the routine." Practice to improve not just to waste time "

That sort of mindset can be very overpowering and when taken to extremes you can end up like Oscar Pistorius when that thinly veiled rage at the rest of the world comes out from it's hiding place behind the mask of ambition.
Some things can beat you, whether able bodied or not and I'm afraid that Les has chosen the most difficult and precise game of all, a game that cannot be beaten.
