okay so ive only managed to get some pics up to give an out like of my so called grip or rather how my hand moves the cue thought the shot. i use small,M,L,XL as a basic outline for the power required, this is shown in the pics and you'll see how the hand moves. note that all the momentum and energy is in the front/eye of the hand with all the fingers wrapped around.
bare in mind im cueing straight through and timing the white from the elbow

Thanks J6, if it's ok can I put up what I think you have said and if I'm way off you can correct me.
With the grip ,when you say the momentum comes from the front of the hand , does this mean the actual hold of the cue is form the thumb and forefinger and the other fingers are wrapped around the cue but don't take any part in the holding or forward movement, that comes from the front of the hand.
When you have put s,m,l,xl, this is the acceleration of the cue xl, being the cue at it's fastest as it goes through the cue ball.
Now for the biggie for me ,timing the shot from the elbow, this is my understanding of it, as you make contact with the white(say your arm is at the perfect vertical) as you go through it's not the hand that drives the cue but as the elbow drops it's this that gives you the timing through the cue ball, so you drive through the white with the elbow.
Just thought I would ask this as it's related, if anything is going to go wrong in my cueing it's during the start of the forward movement after the back pause, I know my fingers close, just slightly but it's enough, as this then affects everything everything further down the line, is there any advice as to how to start the forward movement nice and relaxed.Last edited by itsnoteasy; 7 July 2014, 07:30 PM.This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

When you have put s,m,l,xl, this is the acceleration of the cue xl, being the cue at it's fastest as it goes through the cue ball. i have roughly 9" of cue over my bridge and XL in that pic would be the figure of my hand as the ferrule comes all the way back to my bridge on say a power shot, but on some shots at say medium pace i would still choose to bring the cue right back
Now for the biggie for me ,timing the shot from the elbow, this is my understanding of it, as you make contact with the white(say your arm is at the perfect vertical) as you go through it's not the hand that drives the cue but as the elbow drops it's this that gives you the timing through the cue ball, so you drive through the white with the elbow. the elbow dose everything: the pauses, feathering, backswing, and as you say the final acceleration through the white

This is where I am going wrong ,when I am playing well, I can feel my hand has nothing to do with the shot( I can only explain it as it feels to me) and everything comes from the top(elbow), and I can feel the weight of the cue lying in my grip all the way through, it doesn't feel as if my grip closes at all, but it must, just enough to hold my cue, and it feels completely different as I go through the cue ball.Yesterday it went wrong ,it felt like I was hitting with my hand, and I know my fingers were closing as I first started to go forward, as soon as I start this carry on I know a bad patch is coming, it's very frustrating, it's even worse as the obvious thing is to say ,just stop doing that, but if I could I would , maybe I think about it too much when it happens, as when I'm playing well I'm not thinking about not doing it, I'm just playing. Thanks for helping. This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Well things got so bad today , I have nothing to lose now, as I could have cried the way I cued today so I came home and got my IPad , went back and asked if I could go on a table for five mins, the owner said yes , but by the time I figured out what I was doing and getting the iPad set up, I felt I was taking the **** a bit(as I was getting it for nowt) but there must be something horribly wrong as my cueing and timing is all over the place, I managed to take a quick video I will try and post it up if anyone knows how to do it from an iPad I would be grateful for some help. This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!
