(What I don't agree on is some people on here so far up themselves saying they wouldn't take advise off someone because they hadn't made a ton).
well that's not my criteria but I would not take advice of someone who I thought was not competent to give it,and I am not up my own ass,and who said you had to have made a ton before you could give advice?

I think you'll find he was trying to open the bunch of reds off the cush and leave the red in the top right hand pocket which was the correct shot and not screwing into the reds because the shot can be played with a smoother cue action,don't sacrafice you cueing,there are also percentage shots involving cueing as well as shot selection.

Seems to be a common theme running through this thread, namely players of a lower standard say you can be coached by someone who isn't of a high standard, and players who are of a higher standard say you can't. How can you impart knowledge if you aren't in possession of it yourself. The art of ball running is subtle and may not be obvious to some people, it's something you have learned through experience. The notion you can be coached by someone who is of a lowly standard is frankly absurd. I played snooker for six years before a century came and still didn't feel I was a good player but when they started to become more frequent I realised that there's a game within a game little flicks here where to put the white on safeties if you don't possess it how can you impart it.

because i think the talent is in the teaching not in your ability, i am married to a teacher and i am sure it is a job i couldn't do, some of the things the kids can say i would throw them out of the window without opening it!

So isn't that an ability to teach? Do you think your wife could teach tennis out of a book? If someone shows an aptitude for something at school they then move on to a specialist in that subject

the skill is in the ability to teach - and yes she could! to be able to explain analyse and engage is where the skill is. i will always be a better player than she is however if she went on a course with nic barrow and learned the coaching techniques she would have no problem teaching them.

itiseasy is straight up, and he can have me. but he dose love a chatt ay! no doubt, hes got some moves.. but i and a few others on here know by what he says, where hes at with the game right now..
and that would be the same with someone at my level and a top amateur/pro

I couldn't agree more J6, I am where I am, at the very beginning, but when I say something it is genuinely how I see it, and if I ask some things they are genuine questions, I don't mean to upset anyone and apologise if I do ! Sometimes I don't get what's trying to be said as the message gets lost in amongst all the other stuff that goes on, it's like the message is being said but you can't hear it above all the other noise going on and I get a wee bit frustrated.
