A little bit harsh to say this to itsnoteasy - you can learn a little off everyone you meet i think and people don't have to play the game that good themselves to contribute on this forum. Players or non players can have a lot of knowledge about the subject and it does not necessarily mean you cant learn something if you care to listen - he has in the past acquired some knowledge from going to see Chris Small for example - so if he passes what he has learnt from Chris to us then of course I would listen - who wouldn't?

I also think his high break is a lot higher than this now although he does not play many people I believe as he prefers to try and improve solo first and refine his own technique - Though I know for a fact he does get many many regular 80's 90's and 100's every day on line up and doing routines so he can play to a reasonable standard I would say - just does not play people that often to improve his own high break.

I wouldn't waste your breath Byrom, I am quite happy to be where I am in just two and a bit years, me and my ten breaks are doing just fine lol,I like to ask a lot of questions(most may be daft to good players) but I am genuinely interested in how to play the game right, so I will continue to keep asking them. I then go off and practice what I have been told until I get it right. What would be the point in me coming on here and saying I have just done three centuries on the spin in the line up, do you think I would get a well done or would the usual suspects crawl out from the woodwork shouting their mouths off that I'm lying ,I think half the folk on here are just bitter because they have been playing for years and got precisely nowhere with their game, I have played lads who went and tried to be pros, and a lad that sparred with a pro, none of them are like the folk on here , none of them shout folk down and call them childish names, they are all true gents, they all try to help, and all have time for us new players who are stumbling around trying to find our game and they are the folk I listen to, along with the genuine lads on here that have helped me(you know who you are) mostly through pms because they can't be arsed with the side show that goes on here, but I will always be gratefull to them, as they have turned my game around, very simple things but very very effective .
And of course Chris, I can't believe I didn't mention him

One thing in snooker or in any sport is you don't have to be really good at the game to have an opinion, sometimes those who love the sport have very valid knowledge.

totally disagree...you need to know enough about the game and how to play the shots to be able to advise on them. Granted you dont have to be ROS but you certainly need to be or have been 100 break standard to give solid advice in my opinion. I can't name a top coach in the game who could never play at all. In any sport i think you will find that most people who coach were not quite good enough to make a living from playing e.g club pro golfers. Nic Barrow etc

see where you're trying to come from, but it's not acceptable to brush someone's opinion under the carpet just because they are not a ton breaker, Sid Waddell was defiantly not the best at darts or pool etc but his sports brain and how the game ran was second to none and believe his passion for it made his opinion worth more then many

Venus Williams dad coached his daughters how to play tennis - he never played himself and learned everything from books and passed it on. I think it helps to be able to play to a standard yourself but not necessary to pass on information - if Ronnie O Sullivan whispered how he practices or sights or plays a particular shot to someone who cant play and that person passes it on - is that information any less relevant because it is now coming from a non player rather than a world champion?

Some people would only take advice on this forum from people they think are better than them - ton men etc - but to discount anyone's views on that basis is just snooker snobbery - if someone gives good advice it is what it is - Ronnie and Hendry and all the top players have coaches or have had coaching at some point from people who don't or can't play the game as well as they do themselves - that advice from people can be good or bad if they play snooker or they even if they don't. In the same respect you can have bad advice that effects your game from a player who is regarded as being a fantastic coach too.

knowing what works for us or what might work and being able to sift through that advice and find the bits that work is the key thing. Therefore I absolutely stand by what I said.

Richard Williams, father on Venus and Serena Williams, is a very interesting character and a good example of how having an unpolluted perception and its techniques of a sport can actually yield astonishing results. He was a game changer!

Pretty sure the williams sisters father would have coached them at the very start until they showed promise to get proper professional coaching.

I do see what your trying to say however I also think this forum is kind of strange in the sense that people who cant walk the walk really do love to try and talk the talk. For me it can become a bit of a popularity contest on these forums rather than listening to people who have spent a large portion of their lives just to get to the standard they are. People listen to people who spend more time posting on here than playing the game!! I have said this before but i'll say it again if you saw these people next to you in a snooker club you wouldn't take any advice off them. I personally come on here from time to time as I am lucky enough to be able to practice which means I can maintain my standard.

Just to clarify i'm not saying any lower level players advice should be totally ignored but at the saem time i would invite these players to think about what they comment on.

They did have additional coaching but the biggest single differences cam from his innovative approach. He watched and realised the difference between the mens game and the ladies game was power and not technique, so he asked himself what is the difference? What do boys a lot do that girls don't do much of? His answer was throw. He encouraged his girls to throw balls and rackets and even developed this by adding a trampoline for them to throw whilst airborne. The results are there for all to see.

If you want the same as everyone else, do the same as everyone else. If you want to be better or different, you need to do better or different from the pack.

Glad I read that to the end I was thinking along a different line alltogether then.

I don't suppose the fact that both girls are very masculine helped at all. Maybe he saw that as well as they both have his facial attributes.
Hard to imagine that a young Paris Hilton could have been turned into a tennis champion.

As for that shot posted by J6, to be honest it could be anyone, and it is as he wishes to keep his anonymity, and it is after all only one shot, and not that difficult either.
I could post a video of myself clearing the line up, but to do that I would have to film myself for twenty hours in order to find that five minutes when it all comes together for me. And yes it would only take five minutes and I would look bloody brilliant, but that wouldn't be a true reflection of me or my game for the other nineteen hours and fifty five minutes of a few good shots, good position, followed by easy miss and setting the balls up over and over again.
