  • Thumb , Grip , and the "cue end quesion"

I have some questions for you guys , I've been playing snooker for 1-2 years now , but only for fun. Now I'm starting training a bit more serious so I need some help about the grip.

I grip the cue usually tight in the "V" of my thumb and index finger. So my question is when going through my swing , should the tip of my thumb be facing towards the floor through the whole time?

Question number 2. Should I be holding with all three fingers aswell (middle , ring and little finger)

And the last question, where should the end of the cue be facing , upwards , downwards or tho the side? (see picture)

English is not my native language , so apologies for my spelling
    Thanks in advance

Do some research on your own and you will find a lot of grip configurations. As for your questions:
    1. The primary grip is between the thumb and forefinger but the thumb applies no pressure. The grip shouldn't be tight and loose, somewhere in the middle. The thumb should hang straight down towards the floor but it may not be obligatory
    2. The middle, ring and little finger are wrapped around the cue but VERY LIGHTLY.
Last question: it's rather about the preference.
i'm not a coach. Good luck.

Because everyone uses a different grip almost any grip will work as long as it's not too tight. The IDEAL grip is between thumb and forefinger but with both not applying any real pressure. Each player learning the game should experiment a bit and try and find an ideal grip for him, one that can be used without turning the wrist during the backswing and vitally during the delivery and also one which cannot be overly tightened during the deliver.

The description is 'firm but relaxed'. But whatever you do, pick one and stick with it.

You should play with the flat up or down.

If a cue bends over time, it will bend with the grain most likely and the flat is placed there on that part of the grain.

saying that, Judd plays with it on the side and he's not bad.
