I want to see Alex make it on the snooker tour. Pool players bring flair and imagination to the table and are great in around the balls and are unpredictable witch i like. I have watched a few of Alex matches of snooker on you tube but the tables were club tables i would like to see him on a tournament table. Terry, John Morra i heard he was a good snooker player also. His father own a pool room or something if i remember correctly? I seen him miss that black ball against Germany in the world cup of pool this year were he had a nightmare and had Alex to thank for keeping them in it till the end. They should have won. I watched that match the other day.

John Morra is a decent snooker player and he has been considering trying to get to the UK for an apprenticeship but I think money is the main problem as to stay over there for 2 years would take around $80K or so. His father is Mario Morra who was a snooker pro back in the 80's and who taught John to play both pool and snooker. Mario is also a decent pool player but not sure if he is officially a pool pro or not although he carries a pro's handicap in the 9-ball tournaments around here. He does play in some of the larger US pool tournaments with his son.

Alex on the other hand I hear when he's in Toronto he is practicing his snooker on tournament-type tables and plays some of the ex-pros in the Toronto area. He has to be regarded as one of the best snooker players in Canada although I realize the standard in Canada is not high enough to compete effectively on the world stage. Our present Canadian Snooker champ didn't qualify out of his round-robin group in the IBSF Worlds in India recently.

The part reflecting reality. No former snooker play has truly mastered he break, certainly not without many years of dedicated practice at any rate.

Cue power takes time to develop. Snooker players don't have it. A big heavy CB takes a different technique to get moving.

There are other players as good as or better than SVB - the Ko's, Chang, a host of asian/Filipino players we've probably never heard of...pool is so fractured it's impossible to determine the 'best'.

No offense mate, snooker players have way more cue power, size of balls is irrelevent as pool cues also hold more mass. Judd Trump, Neil Robertson...dont think anyone has more cue power then those two. That being said, cue power is not just about strength itsself but about the acceleration of the stroke in combination with strength and follow through.

Well there both top top pool players. It would be nice to see john get into one of the academies if that's what he after and get training full time on snooker as i think he would do very well. That'a what it takes now a days to make it. He has got a nice solid set up and cue action and is a nice fella so all the best to him.

Yes I watched Alex and Corey play live at the SWSA. Alex is a decent player with some unique shots that I enjoyed watching.

Due to his age etc... I wonder if he can improve enough to make it financially viable.

Chris Melling is doing reasonably well so you do wonder if it is nature rather than nurture.

Well Chris melling would have played quite a bit of snooker growing up being he is from here but Alex was from the Philippines and it's would be 10 ball rotation and 8 ball only growing up so Chris has way more experience and ring craft on a snooker table that Alex i would think. But maybe he played some 6 red who knows.

I think it's more a case of you not seeing the blindingly obvious.

If you can watch a film like The Hustler and call it **** then it shows you have a complete lack of insight into everything you watch, look at or see. You're simply blinkered by your own beliefs and prejudices.

If it's so difficult, how come Tom Cruise learned his 'slegdehammer break' in just five weeks, probably less than that as it took him most of that time to learn to pot balls and control the cue ball having never had a cue in his hand at all in his life.

The smaller the table, the bigger the pockets, the easier it is. Now what is it about that concept that you don't understand.

The thing is vmax, arguing with biggy is totally pointless. While you are trying to bring a point across, he just wants to be confrontational. It's what he thrives on. To me he gave his game away when he called Schuhmacher and Hamilton ex karting world champions. That showed that his arguments are not based on facts. If I would hazard a guess I'd say he's a 14 year old kid who hasn't left his bedroom for the last 2 years and lives on forums and his xbox. Quite intelligent no doubt but not very smart, because that only comes with life experience. He's probably on a knitting forum somewhere arguing with sweet little grannies about the pro's and con's of the double stich as we speak. He's not gonna go away so just treat it as a bit of fun. Every forum out there has it's Biggy.

I disagree, I think he really believes it and it's like discussing religion with a Jehova's Witness and telling them why I'm a blood donor, I have an appointment this afternoon in fact. All they have is their book and I'm armed with cold hard logic and a bit more humanity than them.

Now I'm not certain here but I think Alex moved to Toronto when he was quite young so he was exposed to snooker early, but I could be wrong as I don't know him personally.

Last time they knocked on my door I thought I beat them at their own game and tried to convert them to Buddhism. Haven't seen them since. Be aware mate, they have thick skins developed through a life time of rejection. Have fun Disclaimer: I'm not a Buddhist.
