I actually totally refurbished the table and then had Strachan 6811 installed on it. I have been playing on it for about a month. Go to the search and type My New BCE Westbury and you will get the from start to finish.

Will definitely grab a pouch. As for the cues, are any of them John Parris? Im really only interested in Paris cues or my own custom.

Is it just a preference as you're are only familiar with JP cues or have you actually had any other decent cues in your hand that you've played with?

Now that John Parris only actually touches very few of his cues and his 11 apprentices make them I believe the JP cue quality has gone way down. A good JP from 20 years ago (the few I've seen at least) seem to be of a much higher quality that the newer ones I've seen recently.

I believe I have had better cues from Mike Wooldridge, Trevor White, Dave Coutts and even Andy Travis despite his lower prices. Even some of the high end Thai cues seem to be made better as I have a Maximus Prime here where the workmanship is top of the line. JP is a very savvy marketeer who even has a lot of the pros believing his cues are the best ones around and that just isn't true these days. Mind you, I'm not saying they're bad but just not the absolute best out there.

I just sold my last JP cue into Singapore and I had to modify it to get it acceptable.

Trevor White in my opinion makes the best cue. I believe I am the only one who had completed a fair test of this?

Did you actually finish posting your test pottr, I seem to recall you stopping when you got your Trevor White. Would be good to see one post where you decribe in detail the feel and playability of all the cues you had made for you and just why Trevor's was the best.

Slow down your time for shot selection, don't slow down your cue action or you run the risk of upsetting your natural timing with your hand/eye.
Try some line up practise where you don't allow yourself to disturb any balls in the line with the cue ball, learn those little soft screw and stun shots that hold the cue ball more precisely. Get to know your cue and how it performs in your hand and your strength of shot should improve.
Don't hold back when delivering the cue or you run the risk of choking (deceleration of the cue) on the stroke. learn how high or low to strike the cue ball to get the result you need.

The most important thing of all when break building is strength of shot.

                          Well, in summation.

The Mac cue was a great stop gap and I played some good stuff with it. I did have problems with the cue. Needed to replace the ferrule and the base joint became dislodged from within the cue and Richy replaced both for me with no hassle.

The Glover cue was returned as it was damaged on collection so I returned it for a full refund.

The MW cue was a lovely cue, felt great to the hand, I just couldn't play with it at all, didn't hit to my taste.

The TW was next, spot on, my first shot with it was a 96 in a match so it was right for me from the start.

JPU - was unimpressed, there's a separate thread with it.

Dave Coutts never began to make my cue so when I enquired about it I ended up cancelling my order.

Robin Cook had health issues and in affect pushed the cue's completion back a year. I sold it directly to ADR for what I paid for it and a box of tips.

It was never about collecting, it was about replacing my cue. My Mac felt fine, but the TW felt like mine...

5/7 cues. Ordered to identical specs at the same time.

The other two weren't included as Coutts never received my order, despite emails... and Robin Cook could not complete anywhere near the stated time.

It's as good a test as I'm aware of. After all, these guys are business men and considered the top of their trade.

Feel free to conduct your own experiment and share your findings.

An awful lot of money though, he did go to those considered the best.

I'm curious about the MW pottr, although a lovely cue why couldn't you play with it at all ? balance must have been right if it felt good in your hand, did it have a blackspin on it ? was it the taper, quality of the maple ?
