I had told you before to cut out a quarter-sized piece of paper and place it where you want the cueball to be for your next shot. I know this takes a lot of patience and more walking around the table however it will FORCE you to decide on your positional play before you get down on the shot. This is what you're just not doing.
After a couple of weeks of doing this you will find you don't need the piece of paper anymore as you will choose a positional spot naturally as part of your routine, but until you actually force yourself to think and concentrate on that you won't 'get' it.
I would advise to forget about the piece of paper thing and learn center ball striking. From just off straight too just under 1/4 ball the white moves at 90 degrees of the potting angle line (centre ball striking being stun)
Then learn follow through striking (follow through being a rolling cue ball) It comes of at an angle the same as a half ball pot. You will find all this stuff online if you want to learn how to control the white ball and you will start to understand about position a bit more. Dr dave the pool guy would be a good place to start.

Terry
Okay Terry yes as usual you have told me in the past about this and I did not listen....LOL I forgot to tell you guys that is another problem I have. (I don't listen very well) I am going to take a diner plate and cut out a circle to use like a hoop this way it will be much easier to place and remove after the shot.

Been through all that stuff. Back at my Snooker Gym to refresh myself and move through the chapters one at a time. This afternoon I was running in long blues. How is 12 out of 15 screwing some straight back, stop shot leaving CB on spot and following the blue and making both the Blue along with the CB in the end. Floyd went through all the basics with me a week ago and could not stump me on the basics of the game.

Yeah, I know what it is. You keep forgetting to play position on a colour.
The trick is when playing a red you think about position on the next red, when on a colour you think about position on the next colour, you think two shots in advance, just think about position on the next ball and nine times out of ten you'll find yourself straight on it with nowhere to go but forwards or backwards.

NANGLES Les, always look for a NANGLE
That's interesting. I am sure Terry and other people have told me the same thing in so many words but as soon as I read this I got it.
I have a good one for you guys to try. I have taken the up and down the spots with CB to a whole new level. Try putting the Blue on its spot and having the cue ball hit the blue with a stop shot let the blue go off the rail back up to its spot hit CB which returns back to your tip of your cue. Try 10 times. Last night I hit the blue 7/10 and the tip of my cue twice. Nothing wrong with my cueing. I will try and put a video up later if I get a chance today but I am on baby sitting detail today with my 4 year old grandson which keeps me very busy. Maybe I need to get him a junior cue....

Les:
When doing this exercise you have to make sure the spots and the mark at the middle of the top cushion are bang on as otherwise you're just wasting time. I've tried this on my table and although I've cannoned the blue most shots I have yet to have the blue come exactly over the brown spot (at least from what I remember).
If the spots are out by just a millimeter or 2 you will start unconsciously correcting for that error.

Mine must be real close to dead on. Going through the Green Chapter and enjoying it.

That's very good Les on that routine, you must be finding dead centre of the cue ball, cueing through pretty straight and finding dead centre of the blue, it's a mystery how you can't find position on one colour.

Tell me about it. I feel like I should be able to play much better then I do. I guess that is why I get so upset when I loose game after game and run Reds with no colours. I will continue to work on my Snooker Gym and play matches and see how things come together.

It's no mystery, Les. You've already said you don't actually bother playing position. If I didn't bother playing position, I'd lose matches as well.
