  • would 360 Pure Cue help get rid of "chicken wing"

Started playing again in 2014 after 5 year absence was a 30 break player nothing special but enjoyed the game.Have always struggled with my old nemesis the "chicken wing" (same problem for over 20 years, tried to correct it on several occasions without success). Was thinking of buying a 360 Pure Cue and just use that as my cue for a while. Would that iron out the problem?

cue along the baulk line, again and again, and a bit more.. if it don't sort your game with correcting cueing you can have your money back

oh the chicken wing! you try to hit the ball hard your hand stops and your elbow comes round, short solution don't hit your chest drop your elbow a fraction as you follow through and try to bring your back hand under your chin, note it's for practice strokes only

I'm not really sure what you mean, does your elbow stick out when down on the shot or like Golferson said above, is it ok then comes out during the stroke, I have a 360 and I'm not sure it would correct either of these faults(if the first one is a fault as there are many players play with a sticky out elbow) it's more for over gripping, and dipping the cue or twisting the wrist.
if you are gripping really hard or kind of launching yourself at the shot, it may help ,but it could also frustrate the hell out of you as it's not an easy tool to get the hang of, if it were me I would listen to what J6 says, or practice hard up and down the spots, as he says it's a lot cheaper lol.

it's the classic chicken wing he's hitting with his shoulder, his hand stops so his elbow comes out

By chicken wing I think he probably means Jamie Cope like style. And now he wants something more textbook like Steve Davis style.

no chicken wing is a golf term which means that your elbow flies out after you begin the stroke

That to me is an alingment issue , I'm not sure the 360 will help with that, I'm not sure how much this matters as long as you can deliver the cue straight, it's nice to look good and all in line but I wouldn't change it if it affected my cueing. Does having your elbow stick out make the cue be more under your body and restrict your follow through(as Golferson suggested)?

having the elbow in or out is about how the cue feels comfortable in your so called grip hand and as long as that cue comes back and goes through straightish every time your on to something. the only real way to exercise this is on the baulk line

The reason why the so called "chicken wing" is a real nemesis for those affected is
that the elbow tend to move from left to right (or reverse) during the stroke and/or backswing.
It is not possible to move the elbow without moving your hand at the same time.
You can try this in front of your computer

As j6uk said, go to the baulk line, take a mirror, find out the right place for your elbow, and practice to keep the elbow still during the backswing and stroke.

                      Just my opinion...good luck!
                      :snooker:
mind control > body control > cue control > ball control

Thanks for the input lads. The so call "chicken wing" has blighted my game for years. Would be interested what some of the coaches on the forum think of the 360 Pure Cue.

I went to see Chis Small and he uses one with his pupils, I think Terry may have dabbled with one aswell. Personally I'm in two minds about it. I think of all the things used this one actually works, but the real thing is practice and more practice and if you really work on your game all the time you put in generally irons out all the flaws anyway.
I don't know what causes chicken wing so I can't suggest what to do about it, but if you could stick a short video up or even some pics, the good players and coaches on here will help you out.
