yep, I thought you were supposed to clear the colours at the end of a lineup, and I've never seen it done without using a cushion.

I rekon on YouTube there will be examples of folk clearing the full line up without touching a cushion, I think most good players can do it.

In the beginning of the run you can get away with with just playing zone position and you are often hitting a lot of center cue ball.

Honestly, I've always seen it as a consistency and technique drill. Every shot is easy, but you can't take it completely for granted since every ball is at least 3 feet from the pocket. Though I use it more for a warming up than anything.
