BUT, You hit the ball nicely and can play. So it's just about tightening up your positional play a bit. Keep you focus on trying to get close to the next ball, with angles that make it easy to get to the next one after that!

Les,
only my personal opinion and by all means listen to all advice (Floyd, Terry, Cliff etc) but I think tedisbill is setting you really good routines for match play - many games come down to the colours so if you can get reasonably confident clearing them, you're in with a good chance ... also 4 reds with pink or blacks, it's helping you get position on and shoot pinks and blacks off their spot, a vital skill ...
I haven't heard it mentioned on this thread (I may have missed it) but I'd try to build his exercises into a "portfolio" ... so for instance, if you have an hour to practice, perhaps 30 mins on the 4 reds and then 30 mins on the colour clearance ... next Sunday, perhaps 30 mins on his new exercise and 15 mins on 4 reds and 15 mins on the colours ...
this way you'll reinforce what you've already learned so will always have these vital skills fresh in your mind ...
I think tedisbill is doing an excellent "job", he's clearly an excellent motivator and I can certainly see the point of his exercises ...

Thanks DandyA. The portfolio idea is great and exactly what Les needs to do. He desperately needs some structure to his practice.WPBSA Level 2 - 1st4Sport Coach

I feel sick to think that I wasted a year trying to make balls on that table and destroyed everything.

you've got a beautiful table now Les, and beautiful challenges, so make the most of them ...

my coaches have been some of the best and they never showed negativity just good back straightening info and im simply echoing what i would have expected from them.. iv done my share besides lesleys massage table over a years, enough so most would have took to their feet with a stretch, a moan, a thank you very much and i'll be off, but with our les your dismissed to be replaced by another set of hands.
as for generating chat on tsf, the work is outstandingLast edited by j6uk; 28 January 2015, 03:20 PM.

I think with all coaches they can only give you so much advice, different coaches will all have different approach styles of teaching. The player or student himself will have to do his fair share and do probably 95% of the groundwork himself albeit spending countless boring hours hitting the same routines.

Like usual full of confidence the day after Floyd was here. Three videos coming up which I know I still need work but at least I am hitting it and stunning the ball. Nice clean crisp sounds.

Much better Les, i think you are hitting the balls either a tad too hard or you are a bit high on the white sometimes.
i think the first video the second red was ideal you could have rolled it in and been half ball high on the black, and it was on the ideal side of the table for a left hand player.
if you look at the path the cueball took it was good just too hard then you end up with a tough angle on the black to get good position, and so on it snowballs until you eventually miss.
the 3rd video again you over ran to get on the black, however very good pot on the Pink, nice recovery. you potted the 4 reds and colours however you had to play some tough shots to complete it, so at least you know you can pot.
now you need to just keep practicing the same routine until you can make every shot a simple one. so for you its all about cueball control now.
