    • Sincere apologies Les, I never knew that about Cliff, did not mean any offence, I just gave you my true feelings on how I saw the video. Please keep posting I am enjoying seeing you come on with the game. I tell you what if I was in Canada I would love to play you as I think we are on the same level and think our games would bounce of each other.
Again bud apologies to Cliff, we have guys playing in leagues with no learning difficulties that have bad etiquette.
Keep the hard work up and am sure you are going to reap the benefits and begin to love the game and have more fun.

      Cheers Ricky

Could I ask Les, out of ten how do you think you played in that frame, compared to how you usually play. To be fair It's hard to judge someone on one frame, as anyone can look like they are struggling if it's a messy frame, so it would be better if you could say at roughly what standard that frame is to how you normally play.
On a scale of 1-10 I played to about my usual 5, a buch of reds with very few colours and the odd 3 or 4 ball break. That's me no matter how much I practice. I went down this morning and ran the T the first try but I still look lost on the table when it comes to a real game. Very frustrating. I have text and called everyone I know to get a game but nothing. I think that is the worst if it all. I know if I was playing matches 3 or 4 times a week my game would improve drastically but no luck where I live.

So that's you as good as it gets? That's your ten, to be fair Les I think you have come on a fair bit, all I saw was just you played with no thought where you wanted the White to go, but that can be learned, you potted some decent balls along the way so I wouldn't be too hard on yourself. Playing matches isn't the whole answer , it's playing games against better folk ,that's the real winner( everyone says this and to be fair I didn't think it was needed but as usual I was wrong) watch every shot they play and how they build a break, these situations around the black or blue etc etc crop up all the time, time after time so you can learn a hell of a lot just by picking balls out. You are lucky to have Floyd there, even if you play him for a couple of hours once a month you would learn a hell of a lot in that time, if you study hard and take it all in. Chin up, you are improving.
This is how you play darts ,MVG two nines in the same match!

Yes that's what I mean just want to play games. Went down to practice this afternoon and after 10 minutes I put the balls back away. Just no ambition to practice. I have been doing the same thing for over 2 years. Sure I am improving very slightly and slowly and look forward to my challenges. Maybe I practice to much or try to hard but I am not enjoying myself. Perfect table thousands of dollars in equipment and no one to play against. Maybe I am just spoiled.

                  • Your mental side is messed up. You still do not understand that there is no golden bullet. That is why you are not enjoying it.
                    You are getting to technical.
You cannot understand the difference between practice and match play.
                    Where is your nearest club?

You're playing a game you don't enjoy then.

When I first decided to take it seriously, I couldn't wait to practice. I couldn't wait to get on the table on my own. I set myself little tasks and didn't stop until I could do it.

I mean, everyone wishes they were good at things. Like snooker, or playing the piano, or a great golfer, but that's just dreaming. There's not actually many people that bother to put any work into it. But you must love it to do that. You can't force yourself to go and do something you don't enjoy day after day, and to be honest, what's the point anyway. I mean, I wish I could show off and play the piano really well, but can I be bothered to put the hundreds of thousands of hours in that are required for me to get good.... NOPE!!!

You want to just have your table and enjoy it and make centuries, but that's just a dream. You don't actually want to do the enormous amount of work that's required to be good. That's the only reason anyone is good. Not just because they picked up a cue and found it easy. Nobody does. It's just hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours potting balls and learning.

An hour and half to two hours away. I understand the difference, my confidence and game revolves around playing just like it did when I played professional golf. I never practiced because back then if you hit balls they where your own so you had to go pick them up so I thrived on playing 36 a day until there was no one in my club that could beat me. Yes I understand the technical issue, thinking stance, grip position, pause, back swing follow through, where do you want the cue ball, what's the next shot. No wonder I am sick of it. When I played golf I just played, the pro at the club told my parents when I wad 11 there is no sense in lessons because with that arm he will never be any good. Not one coaching lesson in my life all just came from feel.

Yes and I understand that but there is a big difference between banging your head against the wall night after night by yourself or getting a few games in each week. Potting and playing and enjoying a few games and watching to see what you need to work on. I was just going over my games and I have played maybe 30 games since last 6 months. Sorry for my rant, I guess I would not be on here if I did not want to play and love the game. I have everyone telling me to do something different and the game just gets harder and harder. Sorry Guys. I should change my signature to Frustrating.....

                          • Great post Ted. I honestly don't understand Les, and yes you are spoiled, but that's a good thing, even in my crappiest days, when I cued across the ball and didn't know why, missed balls six inches from the bag, couldn't make a two ball break, I loved it, I just love playing snooker and a bad day playing is still a hundred times better than not playing, because I have had a few hours to try and get it right, I love practicing by myself , sure I whinge and moan at myself and sometimes on here ,but it's straight back on to the practice table which I love as I get to learn things, how to play certain shots, how the cueball works, at the start just how to cue, it's all great and it's all work you have to put in even to get to the very mediocre standard I'm at, Im guessing everyone has bad days, weeks or months, even the very good players on here, but they all buckle down and just work through it, it's all you can do, but if you don't want to, and you don't enjoy the hard practice needed, sorry but maybe this games not for you, personally I wouldn't like to see you give up, but I also wouldn't want to see you doing something that makes you unhappy, we are on this planet for a good time not a long time
I will add Les up untill the last month , you will have played twenty five games more than me, that's how much I practice by myself.

That's a good post and you guys know I will be back on the table again tonight. Just had a bad day made calls to about a half dozen guys that played with me last year and they all give me excuses. Not one of them has come back in the last 8 months but then i guess if I was a good player who would want to play with me when they are looking for a competitive match. The only thing I can think of. Bunch of pricks.
