that's exactly what happens to me more often than i want to admit, so many times iv'e been in two minds and just played a part shot and missed a simple 3/4 ball.

iv'e been doing some solo today again and spread a few balls around, i must have had 4 or 5 breaks between 35-45 and broke down when it seemed i was in a good position.

it a case of an inch on the wrong side here or there and i end up missing the simplest of shots because i wasn't happy with the position.

i took a few videos, when i get the chance ill upload some

      • Les:

The backswing is still VERY short and although you take a lot of time between shots you actually rush the shot when you get down with a backswing which is way too short and way too fast and then no rear pause at all and then drive the cue. You are driving the cue a little better through the cueball.

As I said before with this technique and a ton of practice you will improve however getting the backswing longer and slower will help you improve much faster.

I will be working on it again today while the Masters is on.

          • WEEK FOUR: Black off the spot.

Your mission this week, should you choose to accept it, is to place the black on the spot, then start with the white anywhere you like, then pot the black and play position for the black again once it's re-spotted. Your goal is to pot the black as many times in a row as you can, until you miss a pot. Keep a note of your best score this week, and by next Sunday, we can see how many people manage. It's NOT a competition against everybody else, it's a competition against YOURSELF. Try to keep beating your own score.

            Good luck!

Another Good One, I might have mentioned this before, the table fitter that did my second table worked in a pool hall as a kid and when he closed up the owner said he could stay as long as he wanted and practice and he would not go home until he could make 200 blacks off the spot. This guy could really play back then. This is something I know I need practice with as a lot of my bad shape in the previous two routines came from not playing good shape off the black. Maybe Ted picked up on this.

I start off with blacks off the spot every time I go down to my table. But like i said my max is 23. I only use it to warm up and get the feel of the black going in. I do basically the same thing when I go to the golf course. I start off with 18" putts and work my way all the way around the hole. This gives me the the feel for the speed and the image in your head of seeing the ball going in.

If you put your mind to it I really can't see why 50 is not possible for you.

No, obviously , sometimes you have a margin of a couple of feet and I hit it too hard and it rolls that extra couple of inches and u have no shot.

Ohh i thought you meant within an inch of perfect position, not an inch further than 2 feet from perfect position lol
